Eagle Creek Grand Voyage 90L Travel Pack - 2007

The Eagle Creek internal-frame Grand Voyage 90L Travel Pack was made for young adult adventurers. The Grand Voyage is prepared for anything from hopping a train in Europe to riding that rickety South American bus through the rainforest. The Grand Voyage has a large, easy access main front compartment with a handy, detachable backpack complete with a Safeguard Panel to safely stash your money or your passport. The Grand Voyage sports two side water bottle pockets and a front, quick-access pocket that's perfect for a boarding pass. The lower seam-sealed compartment of the Grand Voyage is designed to hold a sleeping bag or your muddy boots.

Bottom Line: See the world while you can with the Eagle Creek Grand Voyage 90L Travel Pack—you may never get another chance.

I'M TRAVELING TO EUROPE AFRICA THIS SUMMER, 9 WEEKS. TRYING TO DECIDE BETWEEN THE NORTH FACE BACKTRACK 70 OR THE EAGLE CREEK GRAND VOYAGE 90L. EAGLE CREEK HAS MORE SPACE, NORTH FACE HAS SOME NICE FEATURES. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

While I don't have any experience with either packs, if I were in your shoes I'd probably go with the Eagle Creek Grand Voyage 90L only because it will hold more, it's lighter, and it is easier on your wallet. Plus many of the attributes are the same. Both get good reviews... you'll probably be happy with whatever decision you make.

World wide tested

Just Finished a 10 month round-the-world trip in March with this bag on my back. Looked at every bag I could find before I selected this one. It had the right balance of comfortable to wear on long walks, easy to access main compartment, and the matching backpack (I wasn't sure about) was the surprise MVP. The bag has plenty of room, and great utility with the wide opening front. I had a mountaineering bag that I almost used instead to save cash, but glad I opted to go with this because of the much easier access. Probably the coolest part is the small backpack that comes with it. As a traveler, you need your big bag of stuff, but a small bag for day hikes and sightseeing. Being able to clip this small bag on to the shoulder harness and keep it in front of you is great for balancing the load, and keeping your valuables safe. We only lost a laptop and a total of 4 cameras - but that wasn't the bag's fault. (The thieves know the good stuff is in the small bag) My girlfriend and traveling partner got the smaller 70L version and loved hers as well. Oh, we also saved on bag storage fees by being able to zip the small bag onto the big bag - there you go - one bag. Highly recommend it, and I'm buying one for my father who is retiring this week.

Hi Nancy,If you're fairly strong you should be fine. It carries pretty well so that's going to aide in the hauling process, but really you should be okay as long as you are even average strength.

Yes, the big bag has a zipper that fully opens the bag. You simply lay it down on it's back, and zip open the whole bag for unfettered access.
