Electric built the EG2 Goggle in such a way that it looks like the top half of a Russian fighter pilot’s air mask. An oversized spherical lens gives you a huge field of vision so you don’t get surprised by any trees or a beater boarders coming at you from either side. Soft foam padding helps to vent this Electric goggle and make it comfortable to wear on long days of riding, and a scratch-resistant dual polycarbonate lense fights fog and blocks all UV rays.
Bottom Line: Performance even the KGB would be proud of.
i have been testing goggles all season long. I tried all different kinds of smith's, oakleys, and just about every major brand. I have to say overall i loved these goggles more than any others. They arent completly mirrored unless its bright out, which is nice so the lenses can be used in more situations. They are comfy as hell, you forget you are even wearin goggles after awhile, and you pretty much have the same periferal vision as if you arent wearing goggles. i use a smith holt helmet, and have had no problems rockin these with it. And they also look BA when you are shredding the mountain because they are so unique. Overall, if you have the doe, go for it, you will no regret it.
Ive got the smith holt helmet and i havent had any problems wearing these goggles with it. You might have to move the helmet up a little bit, but you will not even notice.
What is smith biggest and best goggles? Electric eg2 looks very cool and large wiew interested me. My smith holt is size L so i dont have smalest head. Have anyone more experience about Electric eg2 with smith holt helmet.
Hi! Why did you keep EG2 so bad goggles? And what you mean "-most lens choices are completley mirrored as opposed to kinda mirrored like the eg2's" Is EG2 lensses not completely mirrored? But what is it matter if visible light transmission is okay?
...so the eg2 beats the Feenoms in these areas -the "holy @$#% look at those huge goggles!!!!!!!!!!" factor -superior feild of vision
...and the feenoms beat the eg2's in these areas -fits more helmets -most lens choices are completley mirrored as opposed to kinda mirrored like the eg2's -fits people with medium size faces -lenses are more durable -comes with an extra night skiing lense (2008/2009 models only)
...eg2 cons -fits only people with large large faces -lenses are not completley mirrored -not compatible with many helmets because of huge size -lenses stratch easily
...Feenom cons -not as huge and head turning
BOTTOM LINE: i say feenoms all the way because i NEED completely mirrored lenses, and i occasionally wear a helmet, and the egs are way too big to fit SOME (not all helmets), and the feenoms are pretty good with helmets...BUT if you can bear to have people see your eyes and dont wear a helmet and want total badass head turning style, go for the eg2's
I had the opportunity to use these goggles during my last snowboarding trip. 1. These are huge and I absolutely love that. This increases your peripheral vision. You can barely see the frame when you put these on. It looks like you're wearing an fighter pilots helmet when you put these on. They are super comfy and do well in bright bluebird days. I own the oakley wisdoms and aframes and I wish I had these. They look amazing.
Just wondering, what is the difference between the 'orange' lenses and the silver chrome lenses? is it just cosmetic? (i notice that the silver chrome lenses appear orange in the pictures)
orange is just an orange lens that comepletley see thru from the outside...the silver chrome is an orange lens that has a silver mirror coating, and from the outside it looks silver and is reflective
I am look at these as well as a couple of pairs of dragons. The dragons have ionized lenses. what does this mean and how would it compare with the eg2's?
Ionized from dragon just means the mirror coating they put on the lenses. These goggles are pretty sick. Just to let you know they are quite big, but that is a good thing. They give you a really large field of view and with them being spherical as well, you really can't beat them as far as the field of view and clarity you will get out of them.
are the shit, your field of vision is so big you cant even see the frames, they dont fog even with your nose covered. and na on the white ones the pouch doesnt come off but scissors will do the trick
yes, the mirror finish is only when viewed from the outside. look at the last picture in the bottom row and you can see that the lens has a rose tint when you are looking through it. that helps to increase contrast
these are too big for most helmets, you need a low profile helmet with a high crown that doesnt go very far down the forehead, like the RED mutiny or smith holt...a good example of a BAD fitting helmet would be the RED hi-fi, cuz that has a very very low crown...low crown means that the helmet will push you gogs down on ur face, like the foam will be resting on ur eyes, yeah not fun :-)
Does anyone know if that little pouch on the goggle strap can come off for the white model? I'm pretty sure they don't have a buckle to undo the strap but I can't tell how the pouch is attached. I guess if worse comes to worse you could just cut it off...
These goggles work great if your thinking about buying the do it. I have a bern baker helmet and they fit great with that if you wear the goggles with the strap over your helmet. If you have a r.e.d helmet or a smaller hemet wear the goggles under your helmet. Overall you should get these goggles if you like giant goggles. You have to have a big face otherwise the goggles won't let you breath out your nose that well.
i want these goggles!, got this pro sxp helmet in a large, http://www.backcountry.com/store/PRO0047/Pro-tec-B2-Snow-Helmet.html any chance of fitting together? thanks
I've seen these worn with a helmet, if you want them bad enough, you could just buy them, and if they don't fit just return them for a full refund. If there's a local place that has them you could try them on, then buy them here so you can get backcountry's awesome return policy if you have any problems.
these are sick goggles! jut buy them, its all I can say. If you ride anywhere that requires you to see anything on the side of you, get these. They are THE BEST for tree riding and whatnot.
You should be fine with these goggles. They don't come down that much right on the nose and they'll fit the helmet fine. I didn't find these goggles to look as large on my face as I did in the picture.Hope that helps.
You can pull them apart, you just stretch the frame a tiny bit and the strap comes out. They definitely aren't MEANT to be removed though because I could see doing this too much causing the frame to stretch permanently.
Got the em this season, give by far the most peripheral vision on the market, as are the most comfortable goggles I have owned, the Mirrored finish is super dark, you can still see eyes from outside, but makes better for visiblity for night riding if you are looking for all around goggle.
They should be compatible, your helmet has a really straight brim and nothing that would constrict it. It won't be a tight fit, but you wont be readjusting everything mid run.
how do these work without a helmet? i have smith googles that stick out way to much and look rediculous. will these look ok without a helmet or will i look like a bug?
All goggles stick out quite a bit from the face. That is the nature of the goggle being able to not fog up and give you good vission while wearing them. If you dont want to look like a bug, stick with a helmet, it is safer anyways.
only used them once so far... they're the bomb diggity though. snows scarce right now in east NFLD. the goggles are the gear but BackCountry sent me the incorrect lens. i didn't bother on troubling with them at the moment cause i waited so long for them... i got orange chrome when i specifically asked for clear chrome
These goggles will fit your helmet just fine. They shouldn't cover your nose too much. If you have a very small face/nose you might try a smaller goggle but for most people these are totally fine.
Maybe, because these goggles are so HUGE they dont fit with many helmets, but ofcourse you can try. I suggest you buy The Smith Holt Helmet if you really want this goggle, because it has a tall fit and would match with the EG2, but as I sayd - You can try, but I would say the goggle are too big for the Giro Encore 2 helmet. :) Do whatever you want
When I look at the Giro Encore 2 Helmet It looks like the Electric EG2 Goggle will be too big, but of course it depends on the size of the helmet and if you like to have the goggle on the tip of your nose. I bought the helmet in Matte White with the Electric EG1 Chrome Goggle - Chrome Bandana White/Silver Chrome, which can be found at http://www.backcountryoutlet.com/outlet/ELC0096/Electric-EG1-Chrome-Goggle-Chrome.html:)
