Eagle Creek Switchback Max ES 25 Convertible Pack - 2006

The Eagle Creek Switchback Max ES 25 Luggage is a killer piece for traveling, with enough versatility and features to meet the needs of almost every traveler. Honored as Gear of the Year in the Outside Magazine 2005 Gear Guide, the Switchback Max travels easily using its ORV wheels and extendable handle, or zip-away backpack straps. The front portion of the Switchback zips off to become a full sized backpack that keeps the front and organizer pockets. It's perfect to use as a carry-on or daypack while the wheely portion waits patiently in the hotel room. Comfort Zone suspension with Aeromesh makes both sets of backpack straps comfortable, and hardcore armor in the form of TPU corners and a heavy-duty wheel housing/kick plate keeps the Switchback in one piece.

Bottom Line: Roll through the airport and backpack down the street with the Eagle Creek Switchback ES 25 Luggage.

I won't switch my Switchback Max

By:

I loved using the Switchback pack on a recent holiday. It's spacious enough to hold everything this overpacker could throw in to it, and the removable back pack was great for a 2 day side trip. The quality of the bag is very impressive--I loaded it with gear and the zippers and numerous side/secret pockets held firm. Thanks for recommending the Switchback Max while on your site.

Great bag with a few minor issues

By:
June 21, 2006

I just used the Switchback to travel across Europe for 3 weeks. The bag was great and took the travel well. I was carting it through cobblestone streets and dirt paths, and it came out fine. My only complaints are that the handle on the side doesn't have the nice padding that the top handle had. I'm a shorter person, (5'3) so I couldn't carry it unless I used the side handle, which hurt my hand. My other problem was that the rolling gear takes up a significant amount of space on the inside of the bag. It wasn't unreasonable, and I don't think there's a better way of doing it, but just keep that in mind if you're hoping to pack a lot. The bag is pretty sturdy and stays upright while it's not rolling. If you attach a full backpack, it does start to fall, if you're not careful. Still, a great bag. I was glad to have it.
