Eagle Creek Switchback Max ES 22 Convertible Pack - 2006

The Eagle Creek Switchback Max ES 22 Pack is a killer piece for traveling, with enough versatility and features to meet the needs of almost every traveler. The Switchback Max travels easily using its ORV wheels and extendable handle, or with zip-away backpack straps. Sometimes though, when you love something, like luggage, you have to let it go. Fortunately for these occasions the front portion of the Switchback zips off to become a full sized backpack that keeps the front and organizer pockets. It's perfect as a carryon or daypack while the wheely portion waits patiently in the hotel room. Comfort Zone suspension with Aeromesh makes both sets of backpack straps comfortable, and hardcore armor in the form of TPU corners and a heavy-duty wheel housing/kick plate keeps the Switchback in one piece.

Bottom Line: Tough and versatile. The Eagle Creek Switchback Max ES is a perfect match for you.

This bag rocks...

I am so glad that I got this bag! I just got back from 1 month in Mexico followed by another month in Europe. This bag was fantastic throughout the trip. It is sturdy and those wheels will go over anything. Watch out for filling the daypack too much while it is attached to the suitcase. It makes it too top heavy, but that minor complaint is worth all the benefits. I loved the daypack feature. It was very convenient. Overall, this bag was a worthwhile investment. It was big enough to hold everything I needed and it was tough enough to handle so much traveling. I definitely recommend buying it. It is very well made and I expect it to last a long time.

Good Bag But Could Be Lighter & Roomier

By:

I bought this bag because I broke my foot and needed a "backpack" type of luggage for maneuvering through the airport on my crutches. I also wanted the wheels so that I could roll the luggage after my foot heals. Overall, this is a great bag, and very well made. However, I was a bit disappointed in the relatively small compartment size of the main bag (compared to my husband's older model version)--the hidden handle for rolling the bag takes up a lot of interior space because it is curved. The interior was large enough for me to fit all of my desired travel items for a summer weekend getaway, so I was not too unhappy. And the detachable backpack is quite roomy and will hold many items too. The main bag is also a bit heavier when empty than I had anticipated, so I did not feel comfortable with carrying the packed bag on my back when using crutches; I ended up checking the luggage through in the airport, rather than using the bag as a carryon. However, if I didn't have a broken foot, the weight might have been fine. I am pleased with the high quality of the bag, and I like the idea of a lifetime warranty. Even though I was somewhat disappointed in the interior size and the weight, I still think that I made a good luggage choice that allows for versatility in carrying options.
