As the most plush child carrier in the Deuter line, the Kid Comfort III provides excellent comfort for you and your child, tons of storage pockets, and an integrated sun hood. The Kid Comfort III has 1200cu inches of cargo space split between four pockets to keep your daily essentials organized. Deuter also included a hydration sleeve to keep the water flowing as you hike with your tike on your back. A five-point harness and adjustable seat holds your child securely and comfortably as the two of you stroll down the trail.
Bottom Line: Get tons of storage and lots of comfort when you hit the trails with the Deuter Kid Comfort II Child Carrier.
We now have two Deuter Kid Comfort packs. We got the KCII when our first child was a year old, and we picked up the KCIII when our second child turned one. Both packs are very comfortable for our children, and the packs adjust easily to fit my wife and I, as well as our two children.
We have gotten a lot of use out of these - the vast majority being hikes about two hours in duration. There is plenty of capacity to carry some snacks, water and a couple additional clothing layers. We just did our first overnight trip with this pack, and we were very happy that our daughter was able to spend 9 hours in the pack over two days with minimal complaints - pretty good for a three year old. Logistics for an overnight trip become more difficult though since this pack doesn't have enough carrying capacity to help with the majority of the camping supplies.
Between the KCII and the KCIII I have a slight preference for the KCIII - mostly because the headrest for the child is a huge improvement over the KCII. The headrest makes sleeping look much more comfortable. I am personally not much of a fan of the integrated raincover on the KCIII mostly because it makes the pack very tall.
My only real complaint with both of the kid comfort packs we have is that one of the pins that the frame pivots on to allow the stand to swing out fell out on both packs. Easy enough to repair - it just seems odd that it happened on both packs that we have.
This pack is great. Very light weight, super adjustable, comfortable for the wearer and rider alike, distributes the load very well.....can't think of a single negative thing to say really.
Just did our first real hike (Vernal and Nevada Falls in Yosemite) and Kid Comfort III performed beyond my expectations (I wish I could say the same for myself) and I would recommend this pack to any outdoor enthusiast looking for an easy way to get their kids out on the trail.
She will be too small probably - we started using this with our daughter at about 7 months, and still fold up a turtleneck and put it under where she sits to prop her up. She is small though (10th percentile)- I would say you can make this Deuter Comfort Kid III work when they are about 15 pounds. The nice thing, from what I am told, is that it will take them up to two and beyond.
I'm 6'5"/225lb and finding a pack that fits well is a challenge. This pack fits my torso great. First hike was eleven miles and it did great to put the weight on my hips. My son enjoyed the hike and the rain/sun cover did it's job as it rained part of our trip and he stayed dry. Cargo area and pockets hold enough for a comfortable day out. Kick stand is great. Also room for your hydration bladder. Good stuff.
Hello! My name is Koji and I'm 9 1/2 months old. My mom bought this backpack for me so we can go outside and walk. I don't like my stroller very much...actually, I scream a lot in it. But whenever I get into my backpack, I am so happy! I love to look around at everything and often have to laugh out loud because I'm having so much fun. When all of that fun makes me sleepy, I just rest my head on my chin pillow and snooze away! No bobblehead! My mom usually carries me, and never complains about how heavy I am (I weigh 20 pounds). On sunny days, the shade doesn't always work so well, so I have to wear my hat, but I don't try to take it off like I usually do. The longest I've been in this pack is 1 and a half hours, but I could do a lot more! I hope everyone can get this pack and have fun like I do!
I was comparing many packs in the stores before bougth it. I used to have Kelry Kids for my (by now) 3-years old boy and loved it. However, this Deuter beats it up. Even more convinient harness, better weight balance on the back, very good support for child's head once he is getting asleep during the hike. Stripes to fit the baby in are a liitle bit akward on the first sight, but I guess it is easy to get used to it. Good stuff. And with 12% of discout from Backcountry w/ Live Search Cashback the price is even more attactive :)
