Tested on Vermont's Long Trail, the wool Darn Tough Full Cushion In-Country Boot Sock is comfortable and durable for the long haul. Darn Tough, a third-generation family business, makes this sock from the finest merino wool, which wicks sweat and regulates your foot's temperature. Plus, your hiking partner won't flee when you take your boots off, because merino wool doesn't retain odor. Dense cushioning surrounds the foot and shin for maximum padding and warmth without bulk. Ribbing above the ankle prevents this sock from slipping or bunching and causing blisters. Added nylon increases the sock's durability.
Bottom Line: Hike to your heart's content in the resilient, cushy, and comfy Darn Tough In-Country Boot Sock.
These are great socks. Have used Smartwool, Teko and Darn Tough for trekking and I have to say that I am still deciding wich ones I like better. They are all great. Not as much cushion as on the expedition weight smartwools but very very nice and comfortable. These darn tough are a great product.
plain & simple i wear brashers all wool Hill Walkers/Hikers...so tried these thinking "No WAY"...as with almost all my gear that got the airport/city/train/wandering everywhere break in...concrete pure & simple with hills!...ok...while i still love my heavyweight brashers, these really did the juob...my Teva sandals...my Salomon GTX boots...everywhere...they'll soon get a trail run as well...nice pair of socks (no burns, comfortable, got wet/stayed warm, held up thru wash, and i tried them w/wo Bridgedale liners (another story their great too) and they were 8.5 outta 10)...and i'm a 6'1", 210#, freckeled redhead with near extreme high arch and very sensitive skin). In EBay terms A++++++++++++++
Bought my husband these socks and a pair of Scarpas Boots. He loved both! During the 7-mile hike, I asked him how he liked the socks. He said, "oh, I didn't have to think about my feet, so that's a great thing because if I have to think about my feet, that means there's something wrong with my socks." He loves it! It kept him warm, comfortable, and after going through the laundry, it held its shape and didn't even shrink. Great pair of socks! I'm going to have to get a pair for myself right now...
These socks are definitely comfortable but I didn't find them to be comfortable for hiking. My feet were more sore after wearing these socks than they typically are after a long day of hiking.
Ive used these socks for years. They are not the most "high volume" full cushion boot sock and you need to make sure you buy the right size (too small would be uncomfortable). Hands down the most durable, comfortable sock ever. I have pairs that are about 3 years old and I still wear them daily...On top of it all, they are from Vermont, and Vermont rocks.
These socks are spectacular. I have two pairs of them and will never buy another brand/type of hiking sock. They are extremely comfortable, have JUST the right thickness in ALL of the right places, and do an awesome job at keeping moisture away from your feet. Also, these socks come with a liftetime warranty. You won't regret the money you spend on these socks!!
These socks are great so far... Just took a couple pairs out for a week of hiking... They did the job just fine, and any discomfort in my feet I would certainly accredit to my less than great hiking boots... But these socks made the most of it, I wish I had bought all of this sock, and not tried others.
What can I say. After a whole day in my Lowa Trekkers (in 100 deg. weather) my feet felt as fresh as when I'd put the boots on that morning. These are simply marvelous at wicking moisture away from your feet. The fit is superb and they don't shift and bunch up like cotton socks. I bought a couple more pairs just in case they ever stop making them. Simply outstanding! AAA+++
These socks are great! I never knew my feet could be so comfortable. I took them camping, and when I left my Keen sandals out in the rain (yikes), I grabbed my darn tough socks. My feet stayed comfy all day. The wool wicked away the moisture from the sandals and the cushioning prevented slipping around in the wet shoe. These socks really hug the foot and stay in place.
I used these for a seven day hiking trip in Russia, and a quite strenuous one. I used the socks with CoolMax liner socks, and I came home without even a hint of a blister, which is quite amazing to me. So I definitely recommend these socks!
