This heavy duty boot tackles the worst terrain without breaking a sweat. The tough Aggressive Vibram soles provides durable traction on hard rock, deep mud and light snow while the Gore-Tex insert keeps you foot dry and comfortable. The Expedition GTX Hiking Boot's scuff-proof toe cap protects the boot while you push through think brush and scramble through boulder fields.
Bottom Line: Turn your next weekend backpacking trip into an easy jaunt with the help of the Danner Expedition GTX Hiking Boot.
These are great boots that will function for a host of outdoor activities and never quit! I have used them for hiking though the woods in Minnesota winter as well as hunting in semi-frozen swamps, bogs, and other types of wetlands. These have been great boots, I don't get any blisters and they keep my feet dry.
I am in Afghanistan and have had these boots for 3 months now. The first 2 months they were perfect. Now they leak water in both boots like it was their job. What do I need to get a new pair? I love the look and feel it's the water I can't stand. These do have a warranty for manufacturer defect, right? There aren't any holes or cuts in the boots.
yah bro backcountry has a 100 pct satisfaction no questions asked .you can have them for 30 days or 30 years they will take them back and send you a new pair ! or get a refund keep your head down and get home peace !I had a pair not these and the failed after like a year most Gortex boots only last so long.you can buy the spray for them, its like only 10 bucks to keep them truckin!!!
I bought these boots for a season working trail crew for the Forest Service. These were absolutely amazing during the early season when everything was wet and my co-workers feat got soaked. I put quite a few miles on them for work, and climbing peaks in Glacier National Park during my time off. I did some semi-technical scrambling on some peaks (5.6-7ish, probably should have been using ropes after all it would have been a couple thousand foot fall if I slipped...) and these boots performed pretty well. By the end of it, I had completely shredded them, and Danner's generous warranty covered them (rare for footware). Favorite boats I ever owned.
They appear to be a normal boot. There is not a crampon hole in the outsole like some other boots but if your crampons work on a standard boot, they should work on these.I wouldn't purchase this boot solely to be used with crampons but for occasional use they would work better with traditional (strap-on) crampons. Step-in crampons work better with plastic boots.
These boots are great for the field work that I do as a wildlife technician for state fish and game agencies, doing hiking, fencing, tree planting, stream survey work, etc.. My last pair lasted almost 2 years with much abuse in wet grass fields, muddy ditches, etc.. The rubber toe end helps prevent wear. The Obenaufs Leather Oil with two coats when bought new and additional coat during the year really saves the leather, works well!! The free shipping is nice, although I'd pay a little extra for some more tape on the box, than the one piece that was on it, the box was half open when I got it.. I may look into the Danner Talus GTX model 43511 for my future pair, they even have more rubber protection around the sides of the boot, Great price on the boots! The stitching is usually the first thing to go, then the inner Gore-tex will start to leak, I trashed the rubber soles from pushing in steel tee posts, so that's a no-no. I have high hopes for these boots and they should last well!! Thank again!
I wear an 11.5 and their 11.5 fit me pretty well. I did need the wide size which, unfortunatly, backcountry does not offer.Danner's do run true to size & do offer an EE width in this boot.
I bought these last summer when i was over at my dads ( LA ) for a hike up near bishop. Unfortunately i got the boots the day before the trip so didnt really have much time to break them in. However the boots still felt comfortable and i came away from the 3 day 2 night trip blisterless and happy :). I bought the boots to replace some bomber zamberland leather boots and i can happily say theyv'e stood up to everything I've put them through over here in the UK . Terential Downpours of the lakes , super heavy snow this winter and various mountain hikes in scotland and wales. Bottom line : Great boots , warm ! , waterproof , sturdy and comfy all for a Great Price :)
These are going to be your traditional stiff momma boot that is very burly and solid. the sole is your classic Vibram which is totally burly. They support very well on the trail and the lugs are great for gripping. I actually took them running with a pack on the other night to train for Rainier and it may sound weird but they were really great for that. Waterproof fabric, solid lacing, great boot. Danner may not be noticed like all the other brands, but it seriously is a killer company with solid boots. I would wear these over a The North Face, Merrel, Vasque, Asolo boot any day.
