Lace up the lightweight Danner Women's 453 GTX Hiking Boot and set out on anything from a quick day hike to a weekend up in the hills. The 453 GTX Hiking Boot's Gore-Tex liner seal keeps you dry as you stomp through puddles and spring run off. This lightweight hiking boot gives you the support of a heavy duty boot without the weight. Danner's innovative Terra Force X arch shank locks your heel in place, which provides a solid, stable feel without the weight of a full shank. The GTX Hiking Boot gives you the durability of tough nubuck and a toe cap for protection while you hike, scramble and kick your way up the trail.
Bottom Line: The Danner 453 GTX Hiking Boot gives you heavy boot performance in a lightweight package.
i sent them back. they are big, heavy and unattractive. i only wore them around town for the day to see if i wanted to keep them, but that was enough to know i didnt like them. they do have a lot of toe room though. so they do not feel too restrictive.
What about ordering the "Danner 453 GTX Hiking Boot - Women's" one half size larger to accommodate thicker socks? I am beginning preparations to hike Hadrian's Wall and need footwear soon.
I purchased these boots in anticipation of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. I haven't done the expedition yet, but I have begun breaking them in and it seems effortless. The soles are sturdy, but the insides are like butter and have already formed comfortably to my feet. I ordered them a half-size too big to accommodate bulky socks on the mountain, but they still fit well at the ankles and my foot doesn't slide around. The water-proofing is excellent and I think they're pretty darn cute, too. An all-around great shoe that I hope will aid my way up to 19,000 feet!
Can the "Danner 453 GTX Hiking Boot - Women's" be purchased at a local store? I don't know what size to buy and I do like the benefits of trying on hiking boots beforehand.
I cannot speak for the performance of the boots as I returned them before wearing them, but I found these boots to be very bulky for their size. They look goofy compared to other hiking boots because the upper part is so wide, like there appears to be no length to the foot. More importantly, they were much heavier than the Lowa Renegade I was trying to replace. I ended up buying another pair of Lowas.
Having an active lifestyle as long as I can remember means my feet and ankles need all the loving support they can get. The Danner 453 GTX is by far the most supportive and comfortable hiker right out of the box I have found in a long time. Price was not a factor for me in finding the right boot, and well...these boots just happen to have a great price for what you get. I have slim ankles, and these boots fit ever so well around them, while affording plenty of room in the toe box for those long, long hikes. At the end of the day, my toes are still happy. I would recommend this boot to everyone. Thanks!! gotta go!
These hiking boots are great. It took about 8 miles for them to break in. Wish they were not getting discontinued. They are a little bit on the heavy side, but overall...comfortable.
