What is the lacing issue and how is it remedied? My new pair do seem a bit restrictive around the top.

I've been wearing these boots for just over a year. I'm hard on footwear, especially when I use it for work, but I've not had a single problem with these. After a week or two of wear, VWP's lacing issue works itself out. Very supportive, but not restrictive... and completely water proof. I'll never buy another boot without a gore-tex liner.

Great boot - especially for a wide foot.
Downside was that the laces tie over where the leg bends over the foot. This was very uncomfortable...

Just got back from a trip to Glacier National Park with my new Danner 453 GTX's. They performed great even though they were barely broken in. Excellent Boot.
