Dalbello Sports Krypton Pro Custom Ski Boot - 2007

The Dalbello Krypton Pro Alpine Ski Boot gives aggressive skiers, top-level competitive racers and freeriders a close-fitting, responsive boot with unparalleled flex control. The Krypton Pro's the three-piece Cabrio design locks your foot in place comfortably for precise feel and response while you tear the groomers apart or lap the powder stashes. The Krypton Pro's lightweight, yet extremely warm Gold I.D. thermo-liner custom molds to your foot. Taking precise fit to another step, Dalbello molds each of their liners to their respective boot shells before you even see them, which provides seamless interaction between the liner and the boot—the way it should be. Out of the box, the Krypton Pro is set up as a stiff race boot. Swap out the extra set of tongues to soften the flex for freeriding, and replace the stiff bootboard under the liner with a soft one that dampens vibrations and absorbs some of the shock after you huck a record-setting cliff.

Bottom Line: The Glen Plake special is back with the Dalbello Krypton Pro Alpine Ski Boot.

great lightweight boot

By:
August 28, 2008

I bought a pair of these back in March and am finally getting around to reviewing them. Love this boot, I replaced my old nordica SP14's with these. These are a very lightweight boot, noticably so. The ability to change flexes is also very nice for park days (few) and more charging days (more). The intuition liner is great, as always. I got them small, and need to get the toes blow out, but other than that a great, meduim volume alpine boot.

1. What is the boot sole length of the 26.5?2. Is the 26.5 shell

1. What is the boot sole length of the 26.5?2. Is the 26.5 shell the same size as the 26.0 shell, meaning is it that only the liners change the effective size of the boot?

1. I wear a 25.5 and my sole is 295mm. That puts a 26.5 at roughly 305mm. Depending on brand there may be +/- 2mm difference, but most bindings adjust easily to such a small variation.2. Yes, ski boot shells are made in 'whole' sizes only. Usually the only difference between the .0 and .5 variants is the thickness of the stock footbed. Any shop kid will tell you that the only reason .5s were invented is to create a placebo for those trying on ski boots. "Do you have this in a half size?" Hope this helps!

Best ski boot on the market hands down!

By: Backcountry.com Employee
December 12, 2007

Having been a professional ski bootfitter, I know the importance of a high performance, functional ski boot, and this boot is it. The Krypton series unique tongue design allows for almost infinite flex which translates to better control, more stability, and more natural ski control. When a proper fit is achieved skin bang is virtually eliminated. Weather you are hucking cliffs or screaming down your favorite run, you will not find a better boot. I could have any boot on the market, but this one is as good as it gets.

It is pretty amazing that you have skied Flexon Comp's with a EE foot, did you have to have any work done to them? I would normally say that you could not fit, but if you used to ski the Flexon Comp, you might be able to. The best way to know is to try them on, that is why you should definitely buy from Backcountry.com, so you can return them if they don't fit. If you used to ski the Flexon Comp and liked them, you will like the Full Tilt boots for sure, the liner is even nicer than the Flexon Comp's used to be. Great step up from Flexon Comps

By:
January 16, 2008

I was looking for a replacement for my Raichle Flexon Comps, and these more than fit the bill. Lightning fast response, comfortable even for my high-arch feet, and great adjustability. I think the only kind of advanced skier they not be good for is someone who regularly hucks off high cliffs. These boots lack absorption on hard landings, even with the antishock footboards. Bottom line: Dalbello makes great boots and these are the top of the line. They're not too hard to find for around $600, which is money well spent in my book.

WC vs, Real World

By:
June 9, 2008

Great boot for those tired of race flex pain. Rubber footbeds dampen chatter and make my knees happy.Good choice for all mountain fun out West. Plenty responsive for normal humans who don't need a full on WC race boot to impress the girls. Power strap will fail so replace with a Booster and have fun.

Old design, don't believe the cult.

By:
May 19, 2008

ID liner, narrow foot, booster strap, expert fitter and foot bed. Like the flex and customizability but am not impressed with the boot's response. If you ski park and back country powder this boot may be for you but there is a reason it isn't being skied on the WC. It is just not responsive enough. If you are looking for a boot that follows your every whim, look elsewhere.

Dalbello keeps a good thing going . . .

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 20, 2008

Dalbello keeps a good thing going by bringing back the Krypton Pro unchanged this season. If you haven't been paying attention the last few years, Dalbello - with the help of Glen Plak - remade and improved the cult classic Raichle Flexon. The simple three-piece shell continues to deliver comfortable performance on two levels: The stepped tongue provides buttery-smooth forward flex to absorb impact, and the low-hinged cuff wraps the skier's calf to transfer energy efficiently to the ski edge for heightened lateral control. Or in dude-speak: they're harsh on your shins. Regarded as the best liner besides custom foam, Dalbello's ID Intuition liners are molded inside each shell to eliminate slop out of the box.
