The DAKINE Ridge Backpack gives you a boatload of function without a bulky look. Hike up knife-edge ridges and make precision turns through hair-thin chutes with your gear in this streamlined pack. Its teardrop shape and back-hugging design provide ample space for everything you need to stay safe and comfortable when you dip into the backcountry. With straps to carry your snowboard vertically or your skis diagonally, an insulated Hydro-Sleeve, and special pockets to stash your shovel and ice axe/shovel handle, you know you can get to your pow-stashes. After making the ascent, take your digital camera from its waist-belt pocket and snap a summit shot, remove an extra layer from the back access main compartment, strap into your sled, and enjoy the ride.
Bottom Line: Get to the goods with the DAKINE Ridge Backpack.
i love it. right now i use it for both skiing and college book carrying, and it does well with both. I don't think i could have asked for a better backpack.
I bought this pack for backcountry skiing, but have ended up using it for school, canyoneering, hiking and whatever else. It's great because it has the hydration pack, and I love the little pocket on the waist band. It makes taking pictures of your adventures quick and easy. The access from the front isn't great, but once I got used to just using the rear entry, I don't want to use anything else. Overall it's a great pack.
This is a great pack for small trips outside of the resort. I ride at Brighton near Salt Lake City, and most of my days are spent out on Pioneer Ridge from the top of the Crest Express lift. This pack fits my skins, shovel, probe, saw, water, and a snack. I can strap my collapsible poles to the side when I no longer need them. Or my splitboard quickly to the back panel for a quick boot pack.
Great pack. Lots of room for plenty of gear. Took a little getting used to the rear entry but now I love it. Would recommend to anyone looking for a winter pack with a little more space
I've used nearly every Dakine pack made, from the Heli Pro to the Poacher - the Ridge is the best resort, side-country, or single day backcountry pack I've yet seen from them. The back panel/main pocket access is very efficient with a front pocket that stores my shovel blade and some extras. The hydration sleeve is a bonus although I prefer water bottles. A soft pocket on top for food, goggles, extras, and you're set. It rides well whether nearly empty or completely full. I dont know why this pack is still a secret among backcountry skiers/snowboarders. 5 stars for sure!
