The DAKINE Pyramid Studs Stomp Pad provides a grippy place to put your foot while you get off the lift. Arrange the nine quarter-size pyramid pieces however you want. They don't stick out like a sore thumb and hide your snowboard's killer graphics.
Bottom Line: Give you snowboard some grippin' style.
awesome... but a PITFA to put on...well actually mounting them is easy, but i wanted them in the pattern shown in the pictures...and they come just as you see, individually
so i cut the plastic border out of the box, and the backing of the cardboard, and used them with blue painters tape to create a border. then used the plastic (it has recessed holes for them to fit in for showcase) and marked on the tape where each pyramid border was
after that it was easy.... just a pita
def use rubbing alcohol on the board before hand... directions say to use a hair dryer to heat up the board before mounting - i dunno. dont own one
mountain opens this weekend so i havent tried on there, but went on my backyard with snow and tried it. work well
I used a margarita glass and stuck them on in a circular pattern with a stud in the middle. Like almost any thing you do at home, surface preparation is key. Follow the directions and use some rubbing alcohol to make sure the surface is clean of any oils or grease (this includes body oils) Stick them on and stack some books on top for a compression set up.
I have to admit, I have lift performance anxiety. I can ride nearly anything on the mountain, but sometimes exiting the lift takes me back to my edge-catching newbie days. The anxiety has always come from a fear of my foot slipping off, causing me to tense up and indefinitely crash. Since I installed these babies? No crashes. I can put my foot down, and it stays nearly as steadily as if I were strapped in. I can coast and steer with an ease I've never known. The confidence boost puts these in the "best bang for the buck" purchase category for me. Oh...and they look good!
If applied correctly, these will stay put and last a long time. I love this style of stomp pad the most, as they work better due to the spacing, traction, and durability. Plus, if one were to fall off, you still have 8 others. The best one I have used is by Stomp, but those are hard to find. The Bakoda and Dakine ones are nearly as goood and you won't be dissapointed.
They actually come in 3 colors that I know of: silver/gray like pictured, a brass type finish, and a black finish (which I most recently purchased). backcountry may not have the color you want, but you can likely search other local or online stores for them...or even ebay. The brass color is not shown correctly here, it is very much a gold color. I ordered brass when it was the only option available, and was momentarily miffed when I received a gold colored stud thinking it would look like the picture. Fortunately the match my board graphics, so all is good.
