The DAKINE Pilot Pack holds the bare necessities to help you get in a short backcountry tour or a yo-yo lap outside the resort. Stash an extra layer and some grub in the 1000cu inch main compartment, and drop in your favorite hydration system to keep the water flowing as you ride. A diagonal ski carry helps you get your planks far into the backcountry for tons of freshies. DAKINE also gave the Pilot Pack a front shovel pocket to keep your avalanche gear easily accessible.
Bottom Line: Get in a few laps of backcountry bliss with all your essentials in the DAKINE Pilot Pack.
Perfect for resort accessed side/backcountry missions. No straps to hang up on the chair, ski carry straps disappear and will carry my 100cm waisted skis fine, room for your hydration bladder with an insulated hydration sleeve on the shoulder strap, plus room for your avy tools, an extra clothing layer and lunch. Very clean and functional design. Cheers.
Only skied with it for 2 days at this point, but it is perfect for exactly what I wanted. I use it mainly for in-bounds skiing with the occasional out-of-bounds run from the resort. I'm not sure if it would work for a full day of complete backcountry hiking, but as for a small bag that gives you just enough space without a big burden, it is fantastic!
dakine packs fit nice and well balanced with even pressure on shoulders and waist, or more on one or the other depending on how you tighten the straps, and my motion has never been hindered
This is another great Dakine pack. This is the 3rd different bag that i have and i love it. I use it all the time, whether it be taking gear to the mountain or holding my Camelbak while i ski. The only problem is that if you have the 90 degree Camelbak attachment it's kind of hard to fit into the water hose pouch on the shoulder strap. Over all an awesome bag. Also its really tight fitting and isn't bulky at all.
as a college student who has a 1000 cu inch pack, i say stay away at all costs...i can barley fit any of my school stuff. its just too small!...plus the lack of pockets and organizers makes it unbearable. you end up with books getting destroyed and papers getting crumbled because everything is being stuffed into one pocket...go for something bigger with seperate pockets for your biders and books, and organizer pockets for pens, flash drives, ipod, laptop sleeve and all that stuff
This Da Kine Pilot is a really well designed pack. There's a adjustable wire loop that you can dial in to fit any ski width. Comfortable carrying skis (diagonally across the back). This is just about the perfect size pack for day time hiking & skinning in the backcountry. Room for a spare jacket, gloves, platypus hydration bag, shovel, probe, skins and a couple Probars.
for a full day out of bounds. Ski carry (2 adjustable loops) works well and is very comfortable because waist band is wide and well paddeded. Pocket for shovel and slot for probe work well. Has a compartment for my camelback bladder and room for a couble extra layers and some food. This would work fine as a day pack for sumer hiking as well.
