Take your two favorite pairs of skis from the quiver, and rest assured that the fully padded, DAKINE Concourse Double Ski Bag will keep them safe until you arrive in a different powder paradise. Stash your boots, outerwear, gloves, and goggles in the three spacious external pockets. DAKINE also added an internal tool pocket so you can keep your multi-tool close to the rest of your gear. Don’t worry about carrying this bag all the way from your car in the economy lot; the Concourse Double’s urethane wheels will save you that agony.
Bottom Line: We hope the airline doesn’t misplace your gear, but if it does, this ski bag will keep your loved ones safe until they’re found.
I do not know how people can travel on ski trips anymore without using a roller ski bag. This bag has gotten me through downtown Tokyo, streets of Saas Fee, Zurich training station to the Alps, etc.
I am a strong girl, but I am still a female and I need all the help I can get when I have my roller duffel and my ski bag. Knowing that I can carry both my bags anywhere in the world is comforting to me.
This bag is big, be prepared to pay extra at the counter for it. The airlines usually seem to be balking at the dimensions. I had my 181 P4's, my wifes 161's, boots, backpack, 4 helmets, 2 pairs of poles, and came in just at the 50lbs limit, but still paid 175$ extra for the dimensions leaving SLC. Recommend curbside check-in as I didn't get charged a dime extra at JFK after I tipped the guy 20$.
As far as the bag, excellent quality inside and out. Internal tension straps made it easy to cinch it all down inside. Would like to see the same tension straps on the outside as well. Held up extremely well in travel.
The bag is well made and makes carrying skis easy, but the 185 cm bag is plenty long for 195 skis. The 200 cm bag is too long for anything but cross country skis. Also, this bag, will hold two pairs of boots. I love this factor, but with two sets of skis and boots, it really is close to or over the 50 lbs. per bag limit on bags. You could really fit all the gear you need for a weekend trip, including your clothes, in this bag, but for the weight restrictions. I haven't had any trouble yet, but I flew United last year, and they had relaxed the restrictions for skiers. If Dakine would get the airlines to fit this bag into their restrictions, they should sell a million of these. The bag is really the best way to carry skis and boots through airports that I have ever run across.
I've packed this baby with 2 pair of skis, 2 pair of poles, 2 pairs of boots and a few assorted ski-related items and it didn't whimper. It's heavy, but there was plenty of room for more stuff.
With this bag and their backpacks, 2 guys could take multi-day ski trips without the need for additional luggage.
The last time I tried to use my 200cm Dakine Concourse Double ski bag the airlines charged me oversized baggage fees. Has anyone had any luck using it without getting hit with the fees? If so, on what airline?
I've flown with my Swix Coffin (Wwich is pretty huge) on Continental and Delta several times and never had any issues. I had 2 pairs of skis, and a ton of gear in it, tipped the scale at an even 50lbs each time (after I took some gear out of it). What airlines are giving you issues?
Great Bag! if you actually put skis in it you don't need any internal suspension or crap that the guy who rated this with two stars implied. I've had this bag for two seasons now and use it when traveling to VT, UT, and AK. Have never had issues with it in the airport (fly Jet Blue) I've packed it with over 145lbs and had no issues getting it from point A to B. I use the 200cm cause i have the 189 Hellbents and they fit nice and snug!
