DAKINE Cobra Mitten - 2008

DAKINE designed the Cobra Mitten as a performance leather mitt with a low profile fit and hearty insulation. Gore Tex inserts combined with both Thermoloft and mid-weight fleece insulation keeps your hands super dry and warm. A waterproof neoprene cuff with adjustable hook and loop closure ensures snow won’t sneak into these mittens even on the most blower of pow days. Soft nose wipe thumb panels let you clean frozen boogs off your face without chaffing.

Bottom Line: Go ahead and snake your buddy’s line in the DAKINE Cobra Mitten.

My favorite mittens

All the great features of the Cobra glove, but in mitten form. They have a gore-tex insert, so you have unparalleled waterproofing and breathability. You are certain to stay dry in these. The insulation on these is great. You will stay superwarm. Skied with these in 0 degree weather at the Bird and had no issues whatsoever. My only complaint about the glove was that it is not warm enough for really cold days. The mitten solves this issue. This mitten is open inside and does NOT have finger dividers. As a result you get a lot more warmth circulating through them, and freedom to wiggle your fingers around inside, allowing for a little more dexterity than you normally have. This is one of my new favorite cold weather pieces of gear.

Best Mitts Ever

By:
May 8, 2009

I'm a pretty serious snowboarder and have had the Cobra GT Mitts for a little over a year. These are hands down the best mitts I've ever had. It is almost all Gore-Tex and leather on the outside with a fleece liner on the inside. The coldest weather I used these in was the tail end of a large snow storm where the temperature approached 0 degrees and my hands stayed warm. The mitts also have excellent water proofing, the only time my hands touch snow is when taking the gloves off after heavy snowboarding. The only problem is that on warmer days (40+ degrees) the insulation causes my hands to sweat, but I usually opt for bare hands on those days anyways. One reviewer said there weren't finger dividers on the inside, but my gloves have them (I guess the GT is slightly different than the original Cobra).

The Bronco GT's are pretty warm and they aren't in mitten format. You might want to check out the outlet, I think they still have some cobra GT's for like $30 a pop. If you aren't in it for the color, much better to have a gore-tex glove at half the cost. I live in Chicago and these gloves are warm enough for midwest weather. I use them for snowboarding. My hands stayed nice and warm. Almost sweaty.

Great all around mitts

By:

These mitts perform to manufacturer specs. They keep you warm and dry. And fit true to size. What more could you ask for. I live in the midwest and the winters can be pretty brutal. The coldest I've had these out was about 25-30 deg.f with 0 deg. wind chill. My hands were nice and toasty. They were a little sweaty though. My only knocks are the nose wipe panels (could be a bit more comfortable)and the fact that the leather is pretty thin. The leather is holding up after a few snowboard days. But I guess time will tell.

Rocked in the Rockies

Wore these puppies for the first time at Revelstoke on a pretty chilly day, they were warmer then I expected. They fit snug, so get a size up. The water proofing was impressive. I like the low profile look personally, so these gloves were right on the mark for me. I've worn them about 8 or 9 times out since I got them and they look as good as new.

These are really warm for how light they are.. extremely water proof with the gore-tex and the neoprene cuff is comfortable but not bulky at all fits under my jacket cuffs well.
