You want to stuff as much extra gear into your boot bag as possible, but you’d also rather not have your beanie and goggles grinding against your boot soles. The DAKINE Boot Locker puts your boots in a bottom compartment and your helmet, hat, and goggles in a top compartment.
Tarp-lined boot compartment doubles as changing mat to keep socks clean
Padded shoulder strap for comfortable carry
Top-compartment zipper so you can grab small items without unzipping entire bag
I love this bag. Boots go in the bottom (with a couple of nicely thought out drains in case you have to stash your boots wet) The top holds helmet, pants, gloves, neckwarmers, and probably my coat too, in a pinch. Its super nice having all my gear in one spot versus being strewn all over the back of the truck.
Got this bag a coupla years ago, and have been beating it up since. I've taken it to Tahoe 50+ days, and it still looks brand new. It's taken 2 trips to Jackson Hole with a layover each time and gorilla baggage handlers, and it's great. It's a good size, not huge. I can easily fit my gigantor boots in the bottom, and the top holds my helmet, goggles, jacket, two pairs of gloves, and some base layers. The way the bottom hinges out you can stand in the bottom of the bag while you're putting your boots on next to your car too. Shoulder strap is comfy, handles are nice, bag is great. Pick one up.
So all you want to hold is an adult helmet and boots and a childs helmet and boots? If so it would be a tight fit, but would work. If you want it to hold adult boots and an adult helmet and childs helmet then it would definitely work. The bag is surprisingly big.
I bought this bag figuring it would carry my boots, goggles, gloves, hat, jacket, pants. Once I loaded everything up I realized I still had room to fit my helmet, base layer, insulation layer. An overnight kit and some extra clothes. The build on this is top notch, durable outter fabrics with nice waterproof tarp lining. The shoulder strap is padded and textured for comfort and non-slipability. Overall a great product to keep all of your gear in one place
I use this bag every time I ski. It fits everything and then some. Easily fits boots, pants, jacket(s), helmet, gloves, goggles and some extra layers. Very durable. Great shoulder strap, its curved to make it more comfortable and easier to carry. The only thing this bag lacks is a small internal zippered pocket for keys, wallet, etc. Very minor issue though as the bag is bullet proof.
Not sure about all airlines.....but if you are checking skis with Continental they consider the boot bag to part of your ski bag, and charge just one fee for both. Your planks will take far more of a beating getting checked then your boots so if your checking skis/boards i'd just throw the boots below and not have to lug them around...just my 2 cents.
My girlfriend uses one for that, she keeps a bunch of her gear in there. Definitely will work for flight travel. Personally I just strap my boots together and do it that way as a carry on.
The Dakine Boot Locker is a must if you ski or snowboard. It is exactly what it claims to be: a locker, and a full size one at that. The Boot Locker holds my ski boots, 2 helmets, 2 pairs of goggles in goggle cases, 2 pairs of gloves, and 3 beanies. And there is still enough room that I could fit a box of Powerbars and probably even fit an extra layer or light jacket. This is all you need besides your skis/poles or snowboard. Look no further if you want a do-all bag for all your gear!
I put a ton of gear in here, It's like it goes to a different dimension in there, such a big bag. Fits my boots, pants, jacket, goggles, gloves, hats and my socks.
Just used this bag on United Airlines to Tahoe. Even with its large size it counted as only 1 bag with a ski bag. Plenty of room for boots in the bottom compartment and helmet, goggles, gloves, and jacket in the top compartment. Good quality bag/zippers and easy to carry via the shoulder strap.
This is the second boot locker I've purchased as a gift. Now it's about time I get myself one! These are great bags to house all of your ski/board gear in one spot. And it's nice that the boots have their own compartment that is bascially waterproof and keeps everything else dry.
