DAKINE Baker Backpack - 1000cu in

When the resorts are over-crowded and tracked out, load up the Dakine Baker Backpack and head out to carve some epic backcountry lines. The ski and snowboard carries keep your weapon of choice secure while you hike, and the probe and shovel pocket ensure you have all the necessary tools to stay safe in the bowls.

  • Insulated hydration sleeve keeps your water from freezing
  • Fleece-lined goggle pocket protects your lenses
  • Retractable cable ski carry tucks away when not in use
  • Vertical snowboard carry comfortably hauls your deck

Bottom Line: Carve some fresh lines.

School/Travel Pack

Right now I am rocking the black/white Austin Smith Pro Model pack. I used it all Fall at college and then now with traveling it's my airport pack. I usually travel with a Laptop, travel U-pillow, water bottle, magazines, books, electric cords, iShuffle, sunglasses, reading glasses and I attach my snacks to the outside of it. The backpack is small enough to fit everything but also fit in every airlines over head compartment even the small SkyWest Jets.

If your looking for an AT/Backcountry bag for day use this one is it. Pouch just for tools, probes shovel, Beacon and etc. Room for additional clothes, H2O Bladder ready for those long days even a fleece lined goggle pouch. Ski carry system is awesome. Bottom line is this backpack is perfect, not to big not to small just perfect for one day our overnight excursions. If you don't have it, get it.

Review Title

I've had the pack for about 6 months now. I bought it May, so haven't had a chance to actually let it see snow...yet. As for casual use, the 1000cu is obviously on the smaller side, yet, it can easily fit a twelve case of beer, cans or bottles. It also (just) fits my 15 inch laptop in a small case and slides nicely under the seats on airlines. Overall, its pretty comfortable, the zippers are well constructed and the sunglasses and goggle pockets are really useful. If your looking for something to hold more than a jacket and some snacks, I'd go with a heli pro 20L or Pro 2 1600cu. I'd give it 4/5 because the zippers, while being well built, are not terribly water resitant.
