DAKINE Wet Dry Duffle Bag - 5600cu in - 2009

The Dakine Wet Dry Duffel has two separate compartments so soggy wetsuits and drenched jackets don’t soak the rest of your gear. The tarp-lined section holds the wet stuff without leaking. Haul the whole caboodle to your next destination with the padded shoulder strap and store some frosty brews in the integrated cooler pocket for the end of the day.

Bottom Line: Because wet gear doesn’t play nice with dry gear.

so how big is this thing really? I want a bag to hold my snowboard

so how big is this thing really? I want a bag to hold my snowboard gear, hats, gloves, goggles, my 1st layer clothes and possibly some outerwear too..but I don't want a huge bag that is going to be as big as a baseball or football duffel bag....

Good Gear Bag

Good self contained gear bag. Using it as a gear bag for mountain biking. Keeps things well contained. Havent utilized the cooler pocket for its intended purpose yet, but it looks like it will work perfect. Just the right size. I like the venting of the bottom large compartment to put sweaty bike gear. I always forget to clean the bag out after the ride, so this help minimize the damage. Allows the clothes and pads to dry out a little.
Currently it is holding a helmet, small accessories, leg pads, elbow pads and riding clothes without a problem. Probably even enough for all my downhill gear. I recommend.

Anyone know if this version is better than the last version?

Anyone know if this version is better than the last version? The shoulder strap on the old one tore the inside seams when it was fully loaded and the "cooler" tended to leak once the ice started melting.

Yes, the hand straps are great but the shoulder strap connects (at least in the old version and looks the same in this version) right in the top corner where the side pockets meet with the larger middle pocket, the interior wall ripped from the seam. It's just not as durable as the exterior but has to hold some of the force of the shoulder starp. It's not a major issue just, more cosmetic than anything. If you've got it loaded down and want to use the shoulder strap, keep an eye on how much it's pulling at that seem. And yeah one of those blue ice things would probably do fine.

did you have the last version? this bag looks sweet! but you're comments concern me a bit....is there too much focus on the strap connection points? is that why the seams started to tear? also for the cooler part i would think that the re-freezable fake ice would alleviate that problem....
