DAKINE Concourse Double Ski Bag - 2008

Save your skis from the punishment of travel by packing them in the fully padded DAKINE Concourse Double Ski Bag. Not only does this DAKINE bag protect two pairs of skis while you travel afar for new snow, it includes three external and two internal pockets to hold boots, tools, and other accessories. Urethane wheels let you roll the Concourse Double Ski Bag effortlessly from the long-term parking lot to the check-in line.

Bottom Line: Your skis cost more than your plane ticket, so treat them right.

Will it fit?

Hi, Next January I'm flying to Canada for 3 months. Will this bag fit my GS 185, Powder 178 ski's along with my racing boots and some gear without exceeding the weigt restrictions of 25kg per bag? An other question is: I've got another short wheeled ski bag, does any one know if I can take two wheeled ski's bags on my flight?

Thanks

Way to big.

By: Backcountry.com Sponsored Athlete
April 2, 2009

I would use this bag if I were moving to Europe and needed to bring everything I own. I personally feel there is no reason to bring as much stuff as this bag can accommodate. If you really like to travel heavy then maybe its the thing for you. But definitely consider what the airlines are going to charge you for being 3,000 pounds overweight.

Everything else is bomber though, as you can expect from Dakine. Good zippers, great design, bomber nylon ect...

I only need a bag that holds one set of ski's, boots, and poles. I have a feeling this bag might be too big for me. Can anyone suggest a bag that would be better for me? Thanks.

The Concourse single bag perhaps, link here:

There are others, but this is basically the same bag without the ability to carry a second pair of skis.

Dakine Concourse Double

By:
May 11, 2009

I had a previous iteration of this bag that was damaged by an airline. For a replacement I came right back to this model. Dakine added the outside pockets since my last purchase and this only makes the bag that much better.

How much does bag itself weigh? I need to travel on airlines with 2 pairs of skiis and 2 pairs of boots (1 alpine set and 1 telemark set). I live in east so I travel a lot. Can't afford going over the 50 lb. mark for skiis and boots. If I carry 1 pair of boots on the plane, then I can check 1 pair of boots and 2 pair of skiis.

Good bag

By:
August 13, 2008

Just back from Chile with the Dakine Double. Took a pair of fat and a pair of super fat skis--both arrived and returned without a scratch. Bag holds skis, boots, and helmet safely without needing to use pants, jacket, etc for extra padding. And the wheels sure came in handy. By the way, the 185 cm bag will hold a pair of 190 skis.

Really BIG and Bomb Proof

By:
April 2, 2009

This is definitely a great bag. Most ski bags I've owned would get 2-stars just based on durability as they tend to come apart quickly. This one is pretty heavy duty and I've flown with it more than a handful of times and the bag looks the same as the day I bought it. The only problem is that it is just massive and heavy. When I load this with 2 pr skis and poles I can really only put a few other things in it before it is at the 50 lb weight limit for most airlines. Knowing that I have traveled with this thing on several airlines and since I've kept it under 50 lbs the size hasn't been a problem, but I can see and have heard of airline employees calling this bag out and charging extra purely based on the size of it. If you are looking for a massive bag to store your gear this is probably the only ski bag I know of that can easily hold 2 pr skis with boots and a bunch of other stuff. I'm going to try the Fall Line Double out on my next plane trip later this month...despite the fact that it doesn't have the same tie downs as this bag I think it might be a better "airline" bag.

185 bag fits 195 skis

By:
March 6, 2009

This bag is longer than they measure, a 185 bag holds 195 skis just fine. I originally ordered the 205 and it was way too long. That said, this bag can hold two pair of boots and two pair of skis, plus enough other stuff to make it the only bag you would need for two people on a weekend trip. Unfortunately, with the new baggage rules, this would be over 50 lbs. I am able to put one pair of 195s plus a heavy pair of size twelve Solomon boots in the bag and I come in at 42 lbs. With the rest of the gear I need for a weekend, I'm right at 50 lbs, and get away with this being my only bag. The construction and materials of this bag are first rate, and the wheels are a real plus. I could see this bag lasting a long, long time. I hope the airline rules don't make it, or taking your own skis on a trip, obsolete. I'm sure that would bankrupt the ski manufactures

Concourse vs. Fall Line Double

By:
November 8, 2008

I ordered this bag in the 185 size but found it to be way too big for our skis. I returned it and got the Fall Line Double instead in 170. The Concourse Double has internal straps which is a nice feature that the Fall Line does not have.

This is a great bag. Protects skis well. Plenty of room for boots and almost everything you'd be skiing in. Rolls well. Only problem is the length. I ordered the shortest one, 185 cm. Now skis are so much shorter, the bag is really too long. My skis are not long enough to support the length of the bag, so it bends and part drags on the floor. I will be carrying both my downhill and cross country skis next trip. Maybe my cross countries will be long enough so it doesn't bend.

I have a 185 cm bag. The width is about 44cm. As long as it is wide enough, you should have plenty of room. Only possible problem is that if where your snowboard binding and ski bindings have to sit are in the same place, you might not have enough room. Could take some creative packing.

Great bag but HEAVY

By:
February 23, 2009

This bag as advertised can hold two pair of skis, poles, and boots no problem at all. It is made durable enough to handle such loads as well. Maneuvering this bag fully loaded can be hassle but look what you got. My main concern is weight. The bag itself weighs 12 pounds. So for airline travel this bag fully loaded is not practical unless one wants to pay the extra fees. One thing to consider is carrying one's boots on the plane with you in my case that's 12 pounds, and put your clothes in the external pockets. A little creativity may help the cause. I just wish the bag itself was a bit lighter. Overall the bag is a great workhorse and can take a pounding.

The 185cm bag will hold skis up to about 195 or so. Don't know why it is so undermeasured, but I have put two 193cm, 100mm+ skis in there with zero problems.

HUUUUUUGE

By:
January 12, 2009

this thing will hold ANYTHING. i loaded this bag with 2 skis, boots, and tons of other gear. sucker weighed 70 pounds on the plane, and all gear arrived in tip top shape. the boot sleeves are huge, and the straps inside are really nice to have so ur skis dont slide around. would be nice if it had a divider though between the skis just incase cause the bindings can be pretty close to the skis. you dont even need suitcase, just travel with this thing and your PRIIIME

I fit two pairs of boots, two pairs of skis (177/174), two pairs of poles, and my ski pants/coats with no real issue. This bag is huge. Only thing I couldn't get in nicely was my helmet with all that other stuff in there. I couldn't do this with the fall line bag and the fall line doesn't have internal straps. So it's bigger and more features :)

Bomber bag

By:
February 10, 2009

This bag is totally bomber!

I've had mine since 2005. That's around 40-50 ski days A SEASON. Each time riding from Oakland to L.Tahoe on the BayAreaSkiBus.
So the bag has been well and truly beaten on. Only now is one of the zips starting to pull away.
Bomber!

When I got mine, it didn't have any external pockets. But there's 2 sets of straps to hold each ski's, and a separate compartment in the lid, for your poles.
It's great to crash out on top of, when the Bus is late. Only room for one though, sorry babe.

I thought the wheels were overkill, but when I was pulling the bag through about 6 inches of slush, snow, and water mix, they made perfect sense.
Great bag. I bought a spare 8-)

The bag is heavy and difficult to handle.

Technically no if you compare nylon - 420D vs 600d, but since this is much larger and holds two pairs it costs more. Beside either amount of nylon is going to hold up pretty fair.

I originally purchased this bag with the intentions of purchasing another one for my wife after deciding whether or not I liked it. So once I got it, I started loading it up to see how much crap I could fit in it. Tally so far: 2 pairs of fat skis, 2 pairs of ski boots, 2 helmets, 2 ski jackets, 2 pairs of ski pants, 2 pairs of goggles, 2 pairs of gloves and a bunch of other shit. I guess I won't be needing to purchase another one. I highly recommend the Dakine Concourse Double Ski Bag!

Needless to say, I won't be purchasing another zin
