We bought this for my 7-year old daughter as a school backpack. At first I thought it felt pretty flimsy and light, but the size is right for her. The straps are padded, but not much, and the inner nylon of the pockets is practically see-through it is so thin. The softly lined sunglasses pocket at the top is a nice feature, as are the magnetized snaps on the two lower pockets. One thing I don't like about it is that it will not stand up on its own because the bottom is curved, not flat. My daughter has a knack for ruining zippers, so I'm hopeful this one will last a while. She's only used it 2 weeks at this point.

It's sturdy and cute and just overall awesome. It's hard to tell what the little icons are in the pic, but they are trucks and poodles-- which are two of my fav things! It's comfortable, no more back pains from my old backback, and it holds several books. I've gotten many compliments on it. I love it, and whoever else gets it, I think they will love it, too.
