Whether you're walking to class or going to a raging party, the DAKINE Recon Backpack holds everything you need to be well prepared when you arrive. Two front pockets keep your cell phone and iPod within easy reach, so you never miss a call or get some horrible song stuck in your head. DAKINE also includes a fleece-lined pocket to keep your sunglasses protected. But the cornerstone of the Recon Backpack is its integrated cooler. Slip a few cold ones into the bottom compartment to ensure you have a cold drink in your hand as soon as you arrive at your friend's house.
Bottom Line: Bring the school and party essentials in the DAKINE Recon Backpack.
If you're looking for a pack that is made for the beach, this is the bag. It has pockets for everything you could possibly need. A waterproof wetsuit pocket, tarp-lined wax pocket, fleece-lined sunglass pocket, cooler pocket big enough for a drink or two, ipod/phone/pen holder pocket, a large main compartment, and a secret pocket where you can hide your keys. Although it would still get the job done, it's probably not the ideal bag for general/school use but that's not what it's made for anyways. But if you want a simply designed yet very functional beach/surf pack, you'll be more than happy with this one.
The Recon Pack is made for surfers. It comes equiped with a waterproof wetsuit carrying pouch, and a pocket specifically made to carry wax. It also comes equipped with a really nice fleeced-lined pocket for your sunglasses, and a nifty little "cooler" pocket (will probably only hold one small water bottle or 2 12Oz cans). I mainly bought this pack because of it's simple design, and sleek look, but It also has some nice little features. If you are looking for packing space, I would stay away from the Recon. If you are a student looking for a new bookbag, this might work for you depending on the amount of books you plan on carrying every day. By my estimations, it will probably hold 2 books comfortably, and 3 with some akwardness. All in all, I am really proud of this bag. It is exactly what I wanted with some added decent features.
The Recon is marketed for surfing, but it is also a sweet gym pack. When you end up with a soaked-through shirt after running the "cross country 2" on the treadmill, it's nice to have the "wetsuit" pouch for stowing the soggy post workout T's, socks and underwear, away from the clean clothes/gadgets. Just remember to air the pocket out sometimes because it is really waterproof. You can stow the (sun)glasses or phone in the fleece pocket on the top and keep your water bottle chilled in the cooler pocket. The "wax" pocket cleverly suits deodorant or a bar of soap. Also the pack comes in some sweet designs. And it is just the right size to fit in the gym cubby holes.
Great pack for lift riding also. Simple and clean, without all the added buckles and straps you don't need cruising lifts. I also like the waterproof pocket for throwing my camera in, it just makes me feel that much safer! Good pockets for all that randomness, the only thing I could ask for would be a waterproof zipper on the wetsuit pouch.
