Columbia Whirlibird Parka - Women's

While some three-in-one jackets leave you wanting a little more warmth when you remove the liner, the Columbia Women's Whirlibird Parka features a lightly insulated shell to prevent the shivers on the shadier slopes. For full-on freezing weather, wear the insulated liner and shell together.

  • Underarm zips let cool air in when needed
  • Powder skirt blocks snow on deep days
  • Interior mesh pockets hold keys or snacks
  • Critically taped seams increase water repellency

Bottom Line: Coldness not included.

Two questions: Is this warm enough to wear with a warm sweater & not feeze in 0 degree temps? Also, does the liner just snap in, or does it zip into the shell?

I've worn it in temps down to 10 but no lower. It's warm enough with the liner in and a sweater in those temps. The liner zips in. The liner alone has been good for days in the high 40s

This is a great jacket. I am about a size 4 and the length and fit was great. It is pretty warm - with a good base layer (Capilene 3) I don't need a second layer - just both of the jackets. Haven't had the opportunity to wear it in the snow but I have great confidence in this jacket,

I noticed the sizing. I'm 5'6 and weigh about 120lbs. Should i go with a medium or small? do these jackets run true to size?

They are true to size in that they want to give you some room to stay warm. Too tight of a fit will assist with heat transfer and make you cold. If you layer heavily, go with the Medium.

Worth it.

I live in New England and was looking for a super warm, versatile jacket (can snowboard in & go out to dinner in). I was choosing between this coat and the Columbia Revibe Parka. I liked everything about this one: the look of it, the style & fit of both shells (indiv & together). The Revibe was that much warmer though and the fabric is more durable. Per the price tags on the coats when they came, the Revibe is a better bang for your buck, but the Whirlibird is also a very worthy investment.
Fits exactly true to size.

It will do a great job against any region's cold. I would also take a peek at the Harlow and the Zurich for some warmer, insulating zip-ins

The hood will be a great layer of protection and another way to contain heat that would otherwise radiate off the top of the head. With a good knit hat, it shoudl be a great system to help keep warm
