These jackets are made to be worn under layers or on a slightly chilly day. They are not waterproof or windproof but that is not what they were designed for. They work great for wearing under a shell for some added torso warmth. They seem to be made well and look nice and you can't beat the price.

If you are wanting windproof take a look at the Mountain Hardwear fleece jackets but expect to pay much more.

Does this jacket have the same dimensions as the Ten Trail Fleece from 2008? I need a replacement to zip into a Mammoth Peak Parka and the Columbia customer service people told me to get a Ten Trail Fleece model #WM6573

This one has OmniShield, a water and stain repellant treatment. The specs are the same form the I to the II beyond that.

It will stop a light breeze but that is about it, and when it comes to rain never let a fleece get wet or you will hate your life for as long as you have it on.
