Columbia Surreal Pant - Women's - 2008

Columbia’s waterproof breathable Omni-Tech XP fabric keeps you bone dry when you hit the slopes with the Women’s Surreal Pant. An ergonomic fit and articulated knees allow comfortable movement while the inseam vents keep you cool during warm spring days. Columbia added a taffeta lining to reduce friction when you wear these pants over you base layers, so you can add or remove insulation as the weather changes throughout the season.

Bottom Line: From the first snowfall to the last lift of the year.

Does anyone know what the rise is -- that is, conventional (waist) or modern (lower cut below waist)? Also, I echo the earlier question, what color is dark tundra? Thanks!

Conventional rise, which in our minds means right at the waist. Dark Tundra is a greenish brown.....

I love the way they fit. They are waterproof and fit well and have a little stitching to make them more feminine. They are a bomb proof pant that fits well

I'm not too familiar with the insulation ratings. How does this fair? For a day of skiing (temperatures around freezing), how many layers do you need to wear to be comfortable all day? Thanks. Thanks for the answer. If you say staying dry is more important, I have another question: is the waterproof rating of 10k going to keep me dry?

With any winter activity staying dry is much more important than insulation. 40g of microtemp insulation is more than adequate to keep you cozy while skiing to near 0 temps. As far as layers go a good base layer should be all that you need underneath.

haven't made it to a mountain yet, but they've kept me warm and dry through a couple wicked snowstorms! perfect fit for my size, i'd say they run pretty true to size. great buy for the price!

According to the tech specs these pants don't have gaiters.

According to the tech specs these pants don't have gaiters. I found these same pants on another site and it said they did have gaiters. Is that a typo on your tech specs?

Ahh, so naive. It means go for it, knock yourself out, give it your all, pedal to the metal. In the case of the review, it means write your review here.

My inseam is about 26". I am prepared to shorten the pants, so I would prefer if there were no zipper at all. Is the fit of these pants true to the measurements given for Columbia pants? Thanks!

Yes, Columbia pants, especially inseam are very accurate. There are zippers on the bottom of this pant so beware of altering!

Depends on her inseam. If she has a 31" or shorter inseam she'll be just fine. They're great pants by the way!
