Half of the material used in the three-in-one Columbia Men’s Evergreen Parka is recycled for a reduced ecological footprint. Zip up the waterproof breathable Evergreen Parka, and skin up the ridge (instead of taking the fuel-powered chairlift). When you get hot from exerting, open the underarm vents to let off some steam or remove the liner, and stuff it in your backpack. When you reach the top, and your friends are lagging behind, snap back in the softshell liner to stay warm while you wait. When get down the hill, shed the shell, and wear just the liner for your walk to the brewery where you can order up an organic beer.
Bottom Line: After your reduced-carbon-footprint day, how do you plan to get home?
Recently received my Evergreen Parka, can't wait to head to the mountains to put it to use, as it's a little much for Florida. Quality construction, lots of features. Feels a little heavy, but I hope that translates to durability. Not sold on the liner, will probably use my fleece instead. Great service from Backcountry. Excellant descriptions, fast shipping. Will order more gear in the future. Let you know when I get back from spending the next 5 months in Glacier how the jacket worked out.
I'm 6'1" 200lbs, athletic build. Would a large be a good fit??K, thanks kevin!! I was wasn't sure by the fitting chart. Wanted to make sure I can at least get a sweatshirt or fleece on underneath. I wil go with a XL when I order then.
Ok, just got my Evergreen. UPS was fast, 3 days on free shipping!!
First off, the description saying this has a ZIP out liner, NOT CORRECT. The shell and the liner are both separates, meaning you have to zip them both up when you put it on. I don't think this will be a major issue for me, but beware if this may be an issue.
Otherwise it looks like a great jacket!! Lots of pockets, and not to bulky. I wanted to make sure I got something that wasn't to big, as I'll be wearing on my daily bike commute. I am 6'1" 200lbs, with an athletic build. I ordered a XL and it fits wonderfully. Should have plenty of room to put on a swaetshirt or fleece underneath. I think a L would have been ok, but I live in Fargo, ND and needed to make sure I could layer.
I will be wearing it on my bike ride to and from work starting this evening. Will write again and let everyone know how its doin after about a week. Should be a good test, as its not sposed to be much above 20F, and we're sposed to have high winds thru the next week. Windchill here today is 0F at the moment.
