Columbia Bugaboot Omni-Tech Winter Boot - Men's - 2008

When that first snowfall of the year finally arrives, put your sneakers in the closet and bust out the Columbia Men’s Bugaboot Omni-Tech Winter Boot. This fully waterproof boot features 200 grams of Thinsulate insulation to keep your feet toasty down to 25 below, whether you’re shoveling the walk or snowshoeing through the woods. An Omni-Tech waterproof breathable membrane blocks moisture, and the AgIon antimicrobial footbed keeps smelliness at bay. The Techlite midsole and nylon shank provide cushioning and support, and the Omni-Grip rubber outsole sticks to icy sidewalks and snow-choked trails.

Bottom Line: Winterproof your feet with this boot.

how does the fit of these boots compare to the fit of typical running shoes ? Are people or the Columbia Sports company finding that these boots run big or small ?

Well, they're boots, not running shoes. They have a lot of insulation and therefore will feel very different from running shoes. Also, the entire construction is more rigid than running shoes. I don't suggest running in these for more than a few minutes. I haven't tried them in snowshoes yet, they might work well for that purpose.

I found that they run a touch small. I used to have a pair of 11.5 Columbia boots that fit perfectly, but the 11.5 size I ordered in this style was more snug. Hopefully they'll loosen up a little bit as I break them in.

You're going to have to watch the site yourself. If you get on Live Chat, they'll tell you when the next shipment is coming in so you don't have to watch it constantly.

I've had 2 pair of Columbia boots do the same thing. They come unglued and the rubber cracks. 2 years is about it.

Same thing happened to me with my two season old boots. I called Columbia and they said they would quickly send out a new replacement pair as long I send them a photo of the profile, treads and tongue label. No receipt necessary! Boots are out of warranty, but they said they will replace them anyway!

mine fell apart, too

By:
February 16, 2009

as with the earlier post, the left boot developed a 2" vertical crack by my pinky toe, where the shoe bends when walking. the stitching where the rubber meets the leather pulled apart on the right boot.

mine were a couple models old. and i bought them several seasons ago, but had only worn them a couple times. i contacted columbia and they authorized an out-of-warranty replacement. it took almost two months from the time i shipped them, but customer service was very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

before they fell apart i really liked the boot.

What is the width like on Columbia boots? I've tried on several North Face boots along with Sorrels. The only thing that had the appropriate width fit was Keen though the styling was not my flavor. Any other brands that fit wider than normal?

Best boots ever

By:
January 8, 2010

I work outside a lot. This is my second pair of Columbia boots. Yeah they cost a little more but well worth it. My feet stay dry and warm. I will always have at least one pair of Columbia boots. Backcountry has the best deals on these as well. I am very happy with my purchase.

Sorel's tend to run wide. I don't know of a boot out there which offers an extra wide option. It's limiting but that's just what I've seen.

Great boots for hard-to-fit foot

By:
December 30, 2008

I just moved to New Hampshire from sunny South Florida, so snow boots were in order. (I write for boating magazines, so my deck shoes are my primary footwear down south.) I have a very wide foot. Everything I tried locally (all regular width) didn't fit, but I know my size exactly when available in wide. Backcountry was about the only place I found with boots I liked (these Columbias) in wide, and half-sizes to boot, so I ordered them, tried them on, and love them. They fit perfectly in both length and width in exactly the size I wear from Rockport (my boat shoes) and Rocky (my hiking boots.) They're easy to put on, too. The top lace clips grab the laces so they're easy to get just tight enough and then tie. Frankly, I wouldn't change a thing.

I needed a wide. Backcountry and Cabelas did not have the size in stock. What a big disappointment. Does anyone out there know another source?
