I too only carry messenger bags for purses, this one is nice for traveling, but I wouldn't trust it for an everyday purse. The flap does come loose and there's nothing that will close the large opening under the flap. There is a zippered pocket under the flap also but it's not very big. I used this as a carry on when I flew and I absolutely loved it! I put my boarding passes and everything that was needed quickly in the back pocket that is really deep and it was the closest to me. I was able to put extra clothes in the large part that didn't shut and all my money and everything else in the other zippered pocket underneath. There is a pocket on the side that is nice for a small waterbottle. This really is a great traveling item, but I wouldn't use it for an everyday purse, unless you needed to combine some bags with a purse(Laptop case, book bag, etc.) then it will be perfect for you!

I carry messenger bags instead of a purse and I like this bag very much. It is very roomy, nice size for all my "stuff" (plus a book when I travel) and the material is pretty stain resistant. My only complaint is that the Velcro closure is not super strong and so the flap can move around a little, but I keep small items in the outside pouches, so that weights it down ok. The inside color is a SALMON color in case you wondering! (You cannot tell this from the photo)
