While you probably wouldn't want to do yoga in the Columbia Women's Ashtanga Skirt, its stretchy comfortable material keeps you ultra comfortable and relaxed. The nylon material feels soft while the Lycra stretches to move with you. The Columbia Ashtanga Skirt has a pocket for your cell and lip gloss.
Bottom Line: Stroll downtown comfortably in the Columbia Ashtanga Skirt.
I love this skirt! It dries quickly, doesn't stretch out, is UNBELIEVABLY comfortable, it's super cute... I originally got it thinking it would be the perfect camp skirt after a long day of (river) guiding, but I wear it everywhere. I literally don't take the thing off. Totally worth it. Just make sure you specify Long or Short -- Short is knee length on me, Long was midcalf and looked weird (I'm only 5'4)
Comfortable, flattering skirt hits perfectly above knees in 20" length. If white logo didn't show on hip I would wear it to my business casual office. Size down for a good, not tight, fit (I am 5'1" w/38" hips and normally a 6/Med, but a Small in this style). Pocket is an exaggeration... more like a condom holder stashed in the waistband. Quick dry non-shiny black fabric has perfect amount of stretch. Good buy on sale, will wear on weekends and definitely for travel.
I like this skirt very much for everyday wear. I was surprised by the fact that there was no casing of elastic for the waistband, and that the waistband is actually just a shirred band of the skirt material, cut a little smaller than the skirt itself. The skirt stays up/on fine, better than you might think from my description, and the look of it blends well with other pieces, for a nice everyday skirt you can wear anytime.
i got the longer of the two in black and love it. it packs up tiny, hangs and moves with you just right and doesn't attract hair nearly as bad as i expected. it is a quality item and looks good dressed up or down. i am planning to buy the other color shortly.
"Pocket" is 3.5" x 2.5" with slight overlapping lip, and is hidden horizontally in the waistband on the inside right. Paper money would fit and not fall out, but anything bulky would show. Definitely not a pocket you could walk around with your hand in -- just a secret stash. Hope that helps!
Awesome skirt, very comfortable and versatile. You can wear this anywhere from riding your bike to dinner. Runs a liitle big I usaully wear a Medium and a small was perfect.
The ashtanga skirt is cute, comfortable and goes with anything - it's about as multi-tasking as a skirt can get. Not too short to wear out and about, not too long to wear in the heat. It looks good pulled over a bikini or over leggings (but not over jeans because that always looks silly).
I am not one of those girls with a flat rear and I ordered a large initially...but ended up returning it for a medium and it fits perfectly. If you prefer backpacks to purses, freckles to makeup and nalgenes to martini glasses, you'll love this skirt.
The skirt is okay. I read another review saying that it runs big, so I got a small. I am normally a size 4 and the skirt was super clingy and tight. No free and floating the way the picture looks. One wash in cold water, hanging dry and all kinds of lint and dog hair stuck to it. A little upsetting for the price. I am not even sure I'll wear it again.
Nice skirt, a little big, and the top doesn't fold over very well - rest of the skirt loses its shape and the inside tag doesn't appear to be removable...?
I ordered a medium since I normally take a size 8 pant. The skirt is a little big around the waist but not after you go out to eat (hehe). I've washed this skirt a couple of times and so far so good. I bought a brown skirt so maybe there is a difference with the brown and black.
This skirt looked and felt so comfortable, but it was too big in the waist. With no drawstring or way of making it smaller, I had to send it back. I have a larger hip to waist ratio and size mediums work well for me in most styles, but unfortunately this wasn't one of them. Too bad, the length was perfect and the fabric great - but I'll stick with Prana's Bliss skirt, which works better for me.
Its April in Maine and its still snowing, but that hasnt stopped me from wearing my Columbia Ashtanga skirt out. Its the perfect length for work, hiking around, dinner or a dancing downtown. The hidden pocket in the waste band means I dont have to worry about a purse and the nylon material doesnt wrinkle when I throw it in my gym bag. This is the perfect buy for spring.
I really love this skirt. I had to get one after I saw how flattering it looked on my twin. It falls very nicely and is not too clingy. It's super comfortable and sporty yet can be dressed up to look cute for work. I haven't tried to wash mine yet, but my twin said that once she washed hers, dog hair stuck all over it.
I wear this skirt everywhere - I dress it up for work - where it hiking, where it out in the snow around the campfire with my furry boots. I love it! A great buy and looks great too.
i wish the weather had waited a little longer to turn cold so i could wear this skirt more. I do wear it around the house after wearing constricting business clothing all day. the first nice day of spring this skirt will be in heavy rotation in my work clothing options.
nice, comfy skirt. A little large in the waist, but easy enough to pull lower on the hips. Perfect for traveling - can look casual or dressy with the right top!
comfortable, rolls up and travels well, hangs just right, moves well, pocket is perfect size for a bit o cash, and a chapstick. I did manage to put my ID and a debit card in there, but I think doing this repeatedly would create holes.
This skirt is very comfortable. The waistband is about 3 1/2 inches wide and doesn't have any elastic -- it is just made out of the same material as the skirt, but it works! I am short (5'), so the short skirt is about mid-knee on me, but if I feel like making it a little shorter, I just roll down the waistband. From the picture, I was expecting the fabric to be a little shinier (like swimsuit material), but it is a matte, heavy knit, making it a bit more casual. I still like the skirt -- it pairs well with t-shirts and tank tops -- and I think it will hold up well with multiple wears and washes. The envelope-style pocket is sewn on the inside of the waistband, and it is just the right size for a credit card -- I don't think you could fit anything else in there without it feeling uncomfortable against your stomach. This will probably end up being one of my favorite skirts!
I read all the reviews about this being a bit on the big side but still bought it in my regular size (m 8-10). It was really big and I'm exchanging it for a small. Love the skirt. It even has a pocket for a cell phone.
This is definitely a go anywhere, do anything skirt. I like that I can dress it up or down, and wear it almost everyday if I want. Definitely go with the short; it hits knee length and is a comfortable yet flattering length. I tried on a long in the retail store and don't think that length looks very good on anyone. The pocket is a nice addition.
This is a great skirt that is comfortable and very versatile. The material at the top is not very functional as a belt however. It is easy to rig a belt. I took other pieces of fabric (men's ties, or scarves) and ran them through the top of the skirt to act as a belt. This way I can dress the skirt up or down depending on the situation. I would buy it again
the skirt is very comfortable, and looks great for casual wear, only Columbia should start to cut more to true sizes. their sizes usually run one size larger, i.e. Columbia XS = general S.
I wear this skirt as a substitute for jeans. I love it! The only downside is that it pills after, 40 washes or so! I have not experienced any "balling" effect and do experience a complimenting effect wherever I go!
I got the small. I'm 5'5" and 130. It's perfect! Comes to my knees and isn't too tight around the bum! It's very versitile, a couple weeks ago I slipped it on after being on the river and the next week wore it to an interview. It easily goes both ways- dress it up with a nice shirt or go casual with a T and chacos!
got the skirt in the mail and i LOVE IT! its perfect for hiking..wearing around town...and when it warms up a little i plan to wear it on rafting trips! Highly recommended item!
I agree that this skirt runs big! It's a great cut, totally comfortable. Took it on a trip to italy, and wore it only a few times...It balls up, and looks really bad after a few wearings. I'm disappointed, as it looks much older than it actually is.
I got this skirt one size larger so that it would hang on my hips and give me a little more length and I am really happy with the result. This skirt feels substantial and durable and I can pack it without worrying about wrinkles.
