Columbia Ascender Softshell Jacket - Mens

When a shell is too much and a fleece is not enough, bust out the Columbia Men’s Ascender Softshell Jacket. This highly weather-resistant softshell features a soft tricot lining and a tough Omni-Shield shell to give you full protection and comfort. The Ascender also zips into compatible Columbia shell jackets for when the weather really heads south.

Bottom Line: A comfortable, all-season jacket for any adventure.

NO!! It will block wind n rain, but ya cant expect a noninsulated jacket to do that kinda work in that temprature! I suggest looking for something with a lil more insultating.

what do you mean suffice? the columbia ascender softshell is not insulated. you can expect it to block wind, keep you mostly dry and breathe well during athletic pursuits. you should not expect it to keep you warm in 15 degree weather.

It depends on the fleece. There are some fleece out there that are warmer than this, but in general this is warmer than a standard fleece. It cuts the wind more, so it will keep you warmer from that.

Super jacket; fit the purpose

Bought this jacket for use in N CA hiking and just around town. Perfect. Very breathable, yet still repels water and keeps you warm. Also, it is perfect for a day jacket back here in Houston's fall and winter climate. Couldn't ask for more.

I have this jacket and it blocks wind pretty well. On very windy days, I can still feel some slight wind get through, but otherwise it is great.

Good material, but...

Columbia has always been an underdog company, and I like to support underdog companies. So I bought this softshell jacket and was really excited about it. The jacket's material is top-notch, up to par with The North Face. Only problem is the fit. I usually wear a small and the small felt like a medium-large, so I returned it. I'm a little sad that this jacket did not fit as I expected, but if you have a bigger body than me, this jacket will fit perfectly. Now to hunt down a slim-fit North Face softshell jacket...
