What do you need to know about the portable, powerful Coleman EvenTemp InstaStart 3-Burner Stove that the title doesn't already tell you? This little grill is on the wish list for any larval-stage car camp, tailgate, or back deck that longs to metamorphose into a crucial chilling spot. With the InstasStart push-button piezo ignition, triple-burner power, and integrated wind shields, the summertime sonata of sizzling brats, steak, fish, and yes, veggie burgers is but a click away. We know from experience that this Coleman stove has enough heat (28,000 BTU's worth) to char any cut of meat to a crisp with breathtaking efficiency, so watch out.
Bottom Line: Throw BYO barbecue Friday afternoon, have fun, go out, drink leftover beer tomorrow. Repeat.
This stove brings it all to the table, a solid windscreen for tailgating up in the mountains. The 3 burners give you a variety of ways to cook. It's a little small for 3 pans, but efficient cooking is important for camping anyway. A flick of the switch makes it easy. Very easy to clean too, important if you plan on using it alot.
We bought this stove for 2 reasons: 1) The distance between the burners can accomodate two 12" cast iron frying pans; 2) It is the most compact and lightweight stove that can satisfy condition 1 above.
It seems flimsy, but with 14 consecutive days of use (in the desert and Sierras/Inyos) it is holding up and doing just fine.
carefully pack a towel/cloth inside to stop vibrations while driving.
We use a refillable 1 gallon (5 lbs) bottle or refilled 1lbs bottles (so as to avoid dispossing of 1lbs bottles). The 5lbs. -1 gallon, bottle lasted the entire 14days and was not half empty at the end (this doing two hot meals a day - frequently using both burners (when it does not significantly effect the quality of the cooking, we tend to use a pressure cooker to reduce the amount of cooking time and heating required).
The burners are significantly more powerful than on our old white gas coleman.
The instant start, at first seems flimsy too, but once accustomed to the light touch is a very nice convenience.
the burner control knobs are less than ideal - a more substantial feel and greater turning range would be better. But again once you get the feel of it - the control is pretty good - though not up to anything like a Wolf range :-)
On my particular stove, I had to modify the location of the gas fitting/connection by about 1/4" - to bring it flush to the outside casing of the stove, so that it would not be a hassle to connect the stove to the gas bottle fitting.
We are pleased with this purchase - it served very well...
Are you aware that this is a stove not a grill? Your discription talks like this is a barbecue grill. Do you sell the griddle that goes with this unit? But did see it on the colemen site
