I bought this jacket with the intention of using it for both 3 season outdoor and skiing. Overall good jacket, but not quite for me.I would describe it as a mid-weight hardshell jacket that has a softer feel. Awesome quality, feel and fabrics. Very windproof and waterproof jacket while still feeling like a 'jacket' (vs the cruncher pro shells). It's similar to the Arc'Teryx Stingray, but a bit lighter + less ski oriented. The Koven+ has some stretch built in with the schoeller, which is nice. This jacket can double as both a ski and mountaineering style jacket. Though after use I would say its better served as a cool/cold weather mountain jacket.And although it breathes well, the body mapping fleece panels + the weight of the jacket do not make it ideal for backpacking in anything but colder weather. I would rather use a lighter PacLite jacket or a thin eVent jacket in most situations.Skiing wise, the jacket is not long enough, nor has enough movement in it's cut (IMO) to be a great skiing jacket. I am 6'2", 200lbs, athletic build with long arms and legs, and the Large fit best. The arm length was good, waist bit big, but the chest and especially shoulder area was simply not roomy enough to layer much and still have that 'good freedom of movement feeling'. (The XL was way to big in the body to even consider). Also the powder skirt is pretty much worthless, as its pretty high up on an already shorter jacket...I guess my nipples wont get snow on them? How the hood connected directly with the body was annoying as well - zipping up the front all the way with the hood down caused it to have a chocking sensation. Much prefer jackets that have separate hood/collar combo.so overall great materials, but just not quite right what I was looking for + not right fit, so still have it 4 stars
