Whether you have model-worthy tootsies or more modest-looking feet, the Chaco Men's ZX/2 Unaweep Sandals' double strap design keeps you comfortable. These straps adjust around the contours of your foot for an optimal fit with minimal irritation—making these sandals ideal for athletes and people who are prone to (eeek) bunions. The Vibram Unaweep outsole has a self-cleaning lug pattern that offers steady footing on dry trails or river beds. The Chaco BioCentric contoured footbed lends solid support for long days on your feet despite its light weight. The ZX/2 toe strap holds your feet securely for long downhill walks and off-camber scrambling. *Unless otherwise specified, all available sandals are Chaco's medium-width regular fit.
Bottom Line: Chaco's ZX/2 makes long hikes easy on your feet.
I have had these sandals for about a month and a half now and they are as good as everyone says they are. I think I have worn them everyday since I have had because they are so comfortable. I was scared that the arch in the sole would be uncomfortable to me because I kind of have flat feet, but it was not at all. I even have wide feet and the regular width was just fine for me. These sandals are amazing for hiking and the sole really grips. The toe loop, though it takes a little getting used to, is a must for you hiking descent; it really holds your foot in place. If you are thinking about getting these, just get them you won't regret it.
I really like this sandal. i tried to find it locally, but could not find any of the "X" variety in men's b/c "men tend to think it looks effeminate." i do not agree. Chacos are the best footwear available. I have had a par of Z/2s for about 2 years now, and wanted to branch out and try the new ones. the ZX/2 is not quite as comfortable, but that may just be because i have only been working on them for a few weeks. the other downside is that the two straps are quite thin and can be very uncomfortable if they are too tight. the unaweep sole is excellent.
The inventory drop-down box is updated in real time. You'll just have to keep checking the pages of the z/2's, zx/2's and the z/1's. (Although there's a lot of variety there; you might want to really figure out which you'd need/prefer.) If you NEED to know when they'll be in stock, talk directly to a bc.com rep by calling their 1800# or starting a chat session.
Great service to get the sandals. Sandals themselves are taking some getting used to, have a pair of Z/2, the toe strap keeps tightening & it gets sore after an hour or so, sure will improve with time, but otherwise great buy!
Hands down the best, toughest sandal on the market. Secure, great support. If you plan on using them for hiking, consider two things. 1 no sandal is secure enough to rival a shoe while scrambling. 2 every rock and twig on the trail will work its way in-between your foot and the bed. Things they excel in: travel, belaying, short hot weather walks (also makes for some interesting tan lines on your feet!), and any approach that is not too technical. They are the best sandals, but still just sandals, not the do everything wonders that Chaco says they are.
What about arches? Does it come equipped with some? I need good arches in the sandal. I had a planis facius (pulled muscles under foot) a few years ago and my doctor insists on good elevated arches. Thank you. Bill Tracy
The arch support in these is phenomenal. My mom has a whole mess of foot problems, and needs good arch support, and her podiatrist recommended Chacos. Personally, I love mine, and they give me enough support for light hiking, and possibly more, depending on terrain.
These sandals look great and are the most comfortable I have ever had. I have the z2 style as well, but the double strap design forms to any shape of foot. They're great for basically any activity. Don't let price be a factor here. You won't regret getting them.
So these are definitely the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn. The molded footbed naturally supports the foot and the straps are anatomically placed to keep from rubbing the small bones in the top of the foot. Nothing but sweetness for your feet.
These are great. Good support too. I'm still tweaking the fit but the instructions are on the box so that isn't much of a problem. They fit quite well. I have size 14 wide feet and they are true to size and the regular width works well for me.
Maybe I'm weird. I usually hike in real thin flips/sandals or minimalistic approach shoes. I think that most footwear wears out my ankles and feet thanks to stiff soles and too much support. For cryin out loud, humans walked barefoot for tens of thousands of years so I carry the opinion that most footwear goes a little overboard. Oh, unless you are WAY up in the mountains and/or dealing with snow and ice. To me, these felt kind of clunky and clod-hoppery (word?). The soles are really thick! I wanted an amphibious piece for slot canyons and such but ended up mostly barefooting around as these lacked grip on sandstone walls, clumped up with mud in the treads real easy, and generally made my feet sore. The tan lines totally helped me fit in at the food co-op though, so at least that went well...
The sandals fit OK. They are a little difficult to adjust (not much guidance in the box). They seem sturdy. Break-in has been longer than I would want, but now they are OK.
I have been wearing Chacos for years!!, and let me tell you this new ZX/2 Unaweep Sandals are the BEST EVER!!! I love the way that protect my feet and they are so comfortable as well, I will wearing everywhere I go.
these are my first pair of chaco's and i am very pleased with them. i did have to send them to chaco to get the straps shortened because i have such a low volume foot but it was no problem since chaco does this for free. i normally wear a size 13 shoe but the 12 fit me best in the chacos.
I purchased my Chacos about one month ago, and I love them. They are very comfortable and look great. They are sturdy and well made--a great outdoors sandal. I wore them while hiking around Greece and Egypt (both in urban conditions, arid deserts, and mountainous regions), and I intent to test them out in Israel in a few weeks. So far, they have performed wonderfully, and I'm completely satisfied. There was some rubbing on the outside of my big toes, but not enough to complain about.
I didn't think the double strap would be very masculine, but they grew on me really fast. I've actually gotten compliments from the ladies too. They are one of the greatest investments I have ever made. They are great for rafting, and just walking around the college campus. I would say to round down on your shoe size when you order because mine are a little too big.
After wearing them off and on for a month, I'm still not getting the uber-comfy "stick to my foot" feel my friends have all bragged about. They are well built, so I am happy with my purchase. I think I'm just one of those cases where it REALLY needs to break in to be comfy. As for now, it just keeps cutting off the blood circulation to my big toe.
I have a big toe like the hobbits...shaurt and fat, so the toe loop doesn't secure like it does when you got a long, skinny big toe...Does that make sense? Anyways, wore these babies all thru the Rafael Swell. These sandals are awesome climbing rock, in the river, or just around the house. Get sum!!!
At first these sandals took some time to get the fit just right. With all those straps going in various directions I found myself altering and adjusting for days. But once they are solid you'll never regret the investment in these over some no name brand you considered at Wally World. The toe straps are such that I have often worn them with the main strap loose and they function like a solid flip flop. The anatomical arch support is great for people like me with higher arches. Flat footed people may have issues with these. I expect like my other pair of chacos that these too will last 10 years.
