Chaco Z/2 Pro Sandal - Men's - 2009

Extraordinary outdoorsmen need extraordinary sandals, and that’s where the Chaco Men’s Z/2 Pro Sandal comes in. This legendary sandal has a burly non-slip Vibram IdroGrip outsole with tougher lugs than the sandals most weekend warriors wear on their cute hikes. Chaco’s pull-through strap system keeps your foot locked to the footbed and features soft polyester webbing that dries fast and maintains a consistent fit, so you know it can handle the most demanding endeavors.

Bottom Line: Get Chaco tough.

From what I can tell, the weight appears to be similar: 29 oz for a pair of size 9's. The older Z/2's are about 3 oz heavier.

Chacos in Bull of the Woods Wilderness

By:
September 29, 2009

was a bit cool, around 40F, but the Chacos are still my go to footwear for most trails, especially when making frequent stream crossings. From Missouri to Oregon my Chacos have been over 250 miles this summer and I have loved every step in these.

Oh so nice

I've had these for a few months now and am very pleased. Chaco is a progressive company and manufactures a great product. These have been used for kayaking, hiking biking and many, many dog walks. The arch support is what I expected, comfortable, and I really prefer wearing these over any shoe/sandal I currently own. The weight is fine and after a few weeks these felt like I had been wearing them for years. Highly recommend Chacos.

Thought I would tweak this after I wore these Chacos on a 40 mile backcountry hike in the Seven Devils Mnts of Hells Canyon. The terrain varied from steep scree switchbacks, to boulder fields, to arid burn areas and my Chacos were a dream. Switched from wearing my Salomons to Chacos for comfort, arch support is great and for ease when making stream crossings. Other than an occasional stone under my toes these performed excellent

Yeah the pro sole rocks, especialy in the water, but if you wear them on pavement, say roaming around campus, they get eaten up rather quickly.

Pro sole as well. I figure that it may not hold up quite as well in the long run, but for now it is certainly worth it. MUCH more traction. Very recommended-

The pro sole for sure. It has much better grip than the Unaweep.

Adding on to what Steinweg said, if the sole wears out, you can get them resoled by Chaco for free.

Chacos over Yaquina Head - Oregon

By:
July 24, 2009

Chacos are great for coastal hikes, though be careful not to let sand fall in underneath the straps it can make it difficult to adjust the straps and is a pain to clean out of there.

Great Sandals

By:
July 18, 2009

Great sandal, awesome for hiking. The vibram sole makes a big difference. I like the fit, although it's not perfect. The sandal tends to loosen up after a few hours but it's just a matter of pulling the strap tighter and keep going. Also the strap is kinda too long so it's always hanging and dragging on the floor. Those are minor issues, so I'm still voting 4 stars because I use these all the time, both for hiking and to work. Great product.
