The Chaco Women's Hipthong Sandal gives you the ease of a slip-on with the control you need for crossing pitching boat decks and slippery docks. This Chaco sandal unites fixed straps in the forefoot with pull-through adjustability over the instep, making it nimble and surprisingly secure on your foot. Chaco gave the hybrid flip-flop/performance sandal their smooth Colorado sole and a lightweight platform that cradles your foot. The added stability and lightweight construction make Hipthong sandal a great traveling shoe or amphibious summer camping sandal.
Bottom Line: Chaco's Hipthong is a slip-on sandal that grips like a shoe.
Cute Sandals. I was really looking for some sizing info when I purchased these and I couldn't find it - so I will tell you how these fit me. I usually wear size 8 1/2 or 9. My feet are narrow. I ordered this sandal in an 8. It fits well width-wise - especially since that is adjustable. They could be a little longer - but I feel like if I had ordered the 9 they would be too big. I may order another pair and I would still order the 8. Hope this helps!
I have returned these sandels. Felt great in a store where I tried them on, but after walking in them a bit I found them extremely uncomfortable. As if the arch was too high and I felt as if I was walking on the balls of my feet and found it hard to not trip. I have other Chacos and have liked them. These are just not for me.
As an wearer of NUMEROUS pairs of very comfortable Chaco sandals, I have to say that the Hipthong sandals are a real disappointment. They felt fine in the store, however are difficult to keep on my feet during regular wear. This model is not for anyone with narrow feet.
I have a really wide flat foot. TRIED THE UNAWEEP AND THEY DID NOT WORK. WONDERED IF THE HIPTHONG MAY WORK BECAUSE OF THE THONG BETWEEN THE TOES. ANYONE KNOW
I absolutely love these shoes! I live in San Francisco and walking all the hills in my $10.99 bargain basement flip flops were taking a toll on my feet, ankles, calves and knees. I had to make a change. These fit true to size, but are adjustable to your foots very own intricacies. I now realize that walking 2 miles to work in sandals does not = pain but absolute pleasure. I highly recommend to anyone.
This might be a weird request, but would someone out there be willing to post a photograph of the hipthong actually on your foot? I'd love to see how it looks on a foot and not just in a picture by itself...
If you go to Chaco's website there is a video on how to tighten the straps. It shows the shoe on someones foot. Not the full 360 degree shot but it should give you an idea.
As expected, these are nice sandals. I still prefer the Zong style over these due to the fact that the thong front doesn't hold my foot as snug as the Zong's toe loop...but I really enjoy these nonetheless. (FTR, I have low volume feet, so everyone might not have this problem.) They are great for casual wear and I get lots of compliments on them. I love my Chacos, baby!
These are possibly the most comfortable footwear of any kind I've ever had on my feet. I usually wear size 7.5 or 8 but bought a 7 and they're just right; the eight was too long and I felt I would have been tripping alot. The hipthongs are great when you want a slip-on, flip-flop type shoe but with more 'stay-on-ability.' I've even worn them on a 'short walk' to a scenic overlook that turned out to be a steep 1.75-mile-round-trip hike and was very, very impressed with the stability and grip - both on the ground and on my foot - I would've slipped out of regular flips multiple times for sure. And, of course, the superb, contoured footbed means that my arches weren't killing me by the time I got back to the car. I now have several pairs and wear them lots! Highly recommended!
I wear a 10 med and these fit true to size for me. I ordered them on Tuesday afternoon and received them on Friday afternoon standard service, no charge, 4 states away. You can't beat that!
My wife's fit true to size. She's a 6 and they fit perfectly. They arrived only a few days after I ordered them for her. Backcountry is a fantastic company and ships very quickly, you can trust them more than any other online store.
I absolutely love my new sandals. I have worn them all around town running errands and they couldn't be more comfortable. I am not able to just slip them on and go, I do have to work with the straps to get them on so if you're looking for a quick slip on shoe you'd need to losen the straps when you take them off for a quick pull to tighten them the next time you put them on. Mine do tend to losen up after awhile and sometimes I need to readjust them, but that's fine to me, well worth it for the comfort!
Absolutely love these sandals- comfy, don't hurt my feet (I have wide, picky feet) and they are so supportive and secure. And CUTE! Many a woman have commented on how much the like the look (especially in the black). Definitely get 'em. Worth every penny. If only chaco will find a way to re-web and re-sole these too!
Got a pair of these for my wife. They are true to size and fit perfectly on her. The straps did need to be adjusted in order for her to like the fit. Now she perfers to wear them instead of shoes whenever she can get away with it. I got these for her after I have been wearing mine for the whole summer. Mine are also the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn. We both think these are the best sandals ever made!
Chaco's were recommended to me by my foot doc for the arch support and lower heel. Plus they adjust to anyone's foot unlike Teva's. There was just an article in our local paper about how bad regular flip-flops are on everyone's feet. No support, too thin sole, more likely to turn ankle, slip out of them and "step on a pop top". It went on and on about how bad they are
Loved the style, and color, but the thong part (like a flip-flop) was too wide for even my wide foot as it is a non-adjustable part of this sandle. Anyone with narrow feet would be out of luck in a big way as my daughter-in-law informed me when she tried them.
I got the Hipthong Sandals and was kind of nervous about them because the style was new, and no one I knew had tried them out. But I am very happy with my purchase. I had the slip-on, regular Chacos before, and I almost like these better. It's the perfect fit between a thong sandal and a Chaco slip-on!
I bought these sandals because I am a huge chaco fan, and needed a pair of flipflops with some arch support. Since I got the shoes a month ago I have worn them about everyday! They are super comfy and totally stay on your feet. I live in a walking city and they give my feet the support they need! Highly recommend these sandals!!
I have owned several pairs of Chacos, but these are by far my favorite. I don't use them for hiking or anything, because I prefer the original Chacos with the heel strap and aggressive sole for that. I use these for casual wear that is rough enough to go for a nice walk or down to the creek. The sole is much softer and cushier (and likely won't last as long) than the hiking Chacos that have the heel strap, but this makes them much more enjoyable to wear daily. I work 9-hour days on my feet and these are the only shoes I've ever found that don't hurt my feet after a long day. The arch support is good, but not as high as the hiking sandals. This is fine for me, and I have a pretty high arch.
The straps seem to last well, but the only problem I've had is delamination of the sole. The delamination is in the middle of the sole bottom, not around the edges as you would expect. A Chaco representative told me that this usually occurs from heat exposure (leaving them in your car, etc), but I typically only wear these at work. I just sent them to Chaco and they should be resoled under warranty for free. I have worn them almost DAILY for a year before this happened. I work at a restaurant running around, so I'm sure these shoes have over 500 miles on them before this happened.
For those of you who have trouble with toe strangulation (I do to!), these shoes are your answer! They don't go around your toe, but they have aggressive enough straps to hold the shoe on your foot without a problem.
The sandals were the best looking sandals I've seen. I ordered my regular size 7 and they fit fine. However, the arch was too high for me. It felt like I was walking over a marble. I'm not flat footed; I have normal feet. I thought I will get use to the "arch support" but it didn't happen. Sadly, I have to return them back. I wish the arch in these sandals were not too high for me. I recommend Ecco or Keen sandals...they fit great and the arch in these sandals is not too high.
I bought these shoes a few weeks ago and have barely taken them off since. They are incredibly supportive, and the extra straps keep them from "flip-flopping" against your foot, so they are much more stable. They do a take a bit of time to break in though, so expect a few days of sore feet before the Vibram sole is ready to take on anything
I receive compliments on how "cool" the Hipthongs look all the time. They are more comfortable than regular Chaco sandals. They provided excellent support as well. The Hipthongs stay on your feet so much better than regular flip flops and the straps are adjustable. I love wearing them everyday.
Love these shoes! Took a little getting used to adjusting the straps, but after a day of wearing them, they are great and very comfortable. Stay on your feet with no problem. I do work in the field, so that is a must. It's also nice to kick them off without having to fuss with hook-and-loop or buckles!
I wear flip flops all the time and so I was looking for something casual and everyday. I love the footbed of my Chacos but don't like all of the straps, which can sometimes feel a little constricting. Hipthongs meet both criterion of comfort and function with style. I wear them everyday!
The length of the strap between toes is a bit long making the sandal flop around more than I would like, but I'm getting used to it. Other than that, it's a great flip-flop.
I think it's the double strap that has me in limbo about these sandals. There are two different sets of straps, which can lead to blisters. I got two blisters from wearing these while walking around Lallapalooza in Chicago. Good support though. I ordered them too small the first time (I'm a 7.5- reading some of these reviews gave me the idea of ordering a 7, but they were too small)
I love the arch support, very comfortable after wearing bike shoes, hiking shoes or even ski boots. After a couple of times wearing them, they do form to the foot & are easy to slip in and out of.
No break-in needed. Nice solid bottom and comfortable fit without the flop noise of regular flip-flops. Bought them in black to match everything. And true to size.
I never liked the toe loop on the original Chacos, so when this thong came out I was so excited! It took a little while to get my foot used to the strap over the top (got a blister), but now they are great and I wear them every single day! I wore them canoing and everyday to work. Great deal!
I wear clogs. All the time. Can't be bothered most of the time to wear closed shoes. Summer solution? Chaco Hipthongs! Fantastic fit, snug, comfortable, great arch support, cool-looking. Strap adjustment is the easiest of all Chaco styles (except the flip-flops, of course! I have about a half-dozen different styles of Chacos, and the Hipthongs are my faves, hands-down! They're on sale--what are you waiting for????
these are the most comfortable pair of shoes i own. not only do they have excellent arch support, but the straps can be loosened depending on if i want to just walk around town or take a moderate hike. they're a little stiff when you first put them on, but fiddle with the straps and they'll be the most comfortable shoes you own!!
I'm on my third pair. I work at a boat marina all summer long. I am on my feet all day, and often my feet get wet. The Hipthongs give me great support so the I don't come home with an aching back or hips or knees, and I'm not exhausted and sore the next morning either.
My feet and toes like their freedom. I find the double straps hold the sandal to my feet very well. They are less aft to slip off than my Birkenstock Florida (3 strap) sandals, too. And, as I mentioned, water isn't a problem with Hipthongs.
These sandals are amazing! You can tighten them down while shooting rapids or loosen them up for the end of the week airport walk when sunburns and rum have increased your shoe size dramatically. You will live in these.
Love my new chaco sandals. I have flat feet and really appreciate the support. Also, I wear a 7.5 usually and saw that they only come in whole sizes. I went ahead with a 7 and they fit perfect. The 8 would have been too big - width and length.
I am a fan of Chaco's due to the arch support. I have 5 pairs including flip flops, Z-1's and some leather stylish ones. The Hipthong is my favorite. They are more stylish than Z1s and more comfortable than flip flops. They are a like a flip flop with two side straps that adjust. Instead of putting all that pressure between your toes like a flip flop, the side straps keep it secure and help pull up the back. You don't have the flip-flop sound when you walk so much. When wearing with pants, I find the sides of my pants cover the side straps and it looks like a flip flop.
I really like my Chaco Hipthongs. They are a lot of fun to wear with jeans or with shorts. I like to do a lot of water sports so they come in handy at the lake too. They are comfortable as well as practicle, not to mention kinda cute.
Great fit once you have worn them a couple of times. At first I was worried because my foot slipped out, but as you wear them in this goes away. Good for narrow fit, with the adjustable strap.
I love these flips. The Alyssum is a pretty girly pink, and the bottoms are actually tan and brown, not black and brown, but I still love them. They have a lot of arch support and I like how tight the adjustable straps can get. The fit is the same as the original Chacos, I wear 6.5 normally and bought 6.
I wear my Chaco's all summer long! The fit is true to size (I wear a W's 7) & the arch support is great. Since they have a Vibram sole I can actually use them gardening without having to worry about ruining the soles. I highly recommend Chaco's to everyone because of the adjustable fit & comfort.
I love these Chacos. I wear them for everything because they are so comfortable. The arch in this sandal is great making it comfortable all day in any type of use. Bottom line: The hipthong is far better than your every day flip flop!
I love these shoes. Great support, cute and you can wear them for hours on end. I wore them to the last Outdoor Retailer show for 3 days, minimum 9 hours a day running between booths and my feet felt great at the end of the day. Buy them now!
These chacos will hold up for years and the sole is supportive enough for days when you're on your feet a lot. I got the purple color which is bright and fun. I've also seen the orange and it is really cute as well.
