Chaco Canyonland Low eVent Hiking Shoe - Men's - 2008

Grip the trail in comfort on your next day hike when you lace up the Chaco Men’s Canyonland Low eVent Hiking Shoe. This lightweight hiker keeps your feet dry and comfy mile after mile thanks to a waterproof breathable eVent membrane. Chaco also lined the nubuck leather upper with Trek Dri, a sustainable fabric derived from bamboo that dries quickly, wicks moisture, and fights odors. In addition to the pronation-controlling BioCentric footbed, an EVA midsole and a rigid nylon shank give you support and cushion on hard trail miles. The Getagrip rubber outsole sticks to a variety of terrain while flexing to encourage a natural stride, and Chaco wrapped the toe and heel with a rubber rand for extra durability.

Bottom Line: A versatile hiker that’s happy on any terrain.

Chaco's fit great

I have a narrow foot and heel and these are the most comfortable shoes I have had in years right out of the box! Good for general hiking and wearing around town also!

chaco canyonland

I honestly do not like to wear shoes and generally wear chaco sandals all the way through the winter regardless of snow and rain. I hesitantly ordered these and I absolutely love them. I have had them for about three weeks now and have not put on my sandals since. They are extraordinarily comfortable out of the box and after a long 17 mile hike on the A.T., I managed to come away blister free, which is a rarity for me and new shoes. I have every intention of purchasing another pair as soon as these wear out. I highly recommend these kicks to all those fellow chaco sandal wearers out there. I ordered one half size up from my normal chaco fit and with heavy wool socks on, they still fit like a glove. Thanks Chaco!

Very tight toe box!

By:
April 20, 2009

I have not taken these out on a trek yet but given the sizing issue I wanted to drop a note right away. These shoes feel GREAT as far as the foot bed, like wearing well worn slippers, however, the toe box is VERY TIGHT. With an E width foot I do run into this from time to time but the toe box is always too tight laterally. This toe box is too tight vertically (very short height). I normally wear a 9.5/10 and the toe box on the 10 was so tight vertically it felt like someone was standing on the toe of my shoe. This model also runs short as far as the length as well which may be why the toe box feels so cramped. I returned the 10 and went to an 11 (EU 45) and it's fits a lot better but that's a full size larger for me, and I've never had to wear a shoe larger than 10.5 EVER for any type of shoe or sandal! Even with the good fit when I put this Chaco size EU 45 next to my previous pair of Merrell's (Eu 45) the entire shoe is at least full 1/2 inch shorter and my toe is signifianctly closer to the toe of the shoe. DEFINITELY SIZE UP! They are a great feeling shoe once you get the size right! ...... I SIZED UP A FULL SIZE AND THE SHOE FITS PERFECT. I'VE WENT ON NUMEROUS HIKES AND EVEN WENT TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WHERE I WAS JUST STANDING AROUND FOR 6 HOURS AND THESE SHOES KEPT MY DOGS FEELING GREAT!!! I BOUGHT A SECOND PAIR!!!

Really wanted them to work

In chaco sandals I'm M9, shoes M9.5 were not quite right. Had some heel slip and the toe box was a bit tight. Shoe looked great, well made, thoughtful construction, but the fit just wasn't for me..
The sandals on the other hand, just resoled after 8 years of bliss.

I would recommend Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel and Fabric & Leather Proof.

It's not cheap stuff, but it works and protects your investment.

Super comfy shoes. Have been great for walking around my campus thus far. They appear to be made pretty solid and the waterproof is a huge plus. I wear a 10 normally and they sized accordingly

Chaco Canyonland exceeds expectations

By:
November 17, 2008

I was looking for a low cut hiking/walking/everyday shoe. I had tried a pair on in a local store and found that a half size bigger than normal was too tight on the top and a full size was too big so I thought I just couldn't be fitted. On a whim I ordered a half size larger pair and wore them around the house for a week or so. The tightness over the bridge worked out as the shoes molded themselves to my feet. They are absolutely wonderful. Like a glove and even though waterproof they breath wonderfully and never feel sweaty. The narrow welt on the sole is wonderful, very nice for walking. The soles are grippy, but they are loud when walking indoors they are hard. I anticipate that these will wear well and lsst for a number of years. They replace a pair of Merill low cut hiking shoes that lasted 8 years and these look to be even more rugged than those.

Of all the shoes I have bought these are the only ones where I was complimented on them at a gallery opening. They go anwhere.

not bad

By:
April 23, 2009

As other reviewers have mentioned, the toe box area is a bit tight. I have low volume feet so they fit fine for me, but if you have "fatter" feet it will be suffocating at the toes. The heel is comparatively loose, but appropriate.

The shoe itself is built well. Good sole, good materials, and if the shoe fits your foot it will be pretty comfortable. Doesn't look too bad either.
