Canada Goose Chilliwack Parka - Women's

If you demand ultimate warmth and accept only the highest quality, you're ready for the Canada Goose Women's Chilliwack Arctic-Tech Parka. The tough but totally adorable Chilliwack is bursting with premium duck down, and sports a plush, genuine coyote fur ruff that sets the benchmark for ladies' bomber jackets. At the wrists, heavy ribbed cuffs seal out the fiercest polar gales and reach deep into the fleecy handwarmer pockets. When the wind howls and ice crystals sting your cheeks, the ethereal weight and magnificent loft of 100% duck down clusters will amaze you, and you'll learn the difference that frost-proof coyote fur makes against your face. The Teflon finish of the Chilliwack's Arctic-Tech fabric mocks melting snow, and makes it extremely stain resistant as well.

Bottom Line: The Chilliwack is so incredibly warm and darling, you'll go outside in the freezing cold just to wear it.

Warm, but why duck down?

By:
February 1, 2008

I received this jacket a few weeks ago and was so excited to get it! It is very cute, fits well (true to size, as I am #130, 5'6, and a medium fits perfectly, and I like things slightly fitted rather than large), and appears to be very warm (as Canada Goose products are known to be). However, my one complaint is this. I understood when I purchased it that the fill is DUCK down clusters versus GOOSE down clusters. While goose down is supposedly superior to duck down in terms of fill power when maturity of the bird is equal, I am sure Canada Goose uses a high-quality duck down in their products (the tag states "Canadian white duck down"). However, due to the use of duck down, this jacket has an obvious "gamey" odor, which I've read is due to the higher fat content in duck products. Despite "airing" out in my closet for over two weeks, the odor persists and is quite noticeable, particularly when body heat warms it up. I wonder why they do not use goose down, as goose down is known to have less odor and is, in most cases, superior to duck down in terms of fill power and longevity of loft. As it seems a majority of Canada Goose products use duck down filling instead of goose down, I wonder why they even use the name "Canada Goose." Love the jacket (and it IS warm), hate the odor!

On another note, this site, as always, ships FAST, accurately, and with items well-packaged. In my opinion, it is hands-down the best place to purchase outdoor gear online.

Can the hood look normal? The picture shows it being very long

Can the hood look normal?
The picture shows it being very long necked, which is probably terrific for extreme weather but less useable in less extreme. I'd like the hood to have a bit more of face showing. I'd love a picture if this is possible! thank you!!

On Down Insulation

By:
August 28, 2008

Snowcat22 makes some interesting points, some accurate and some not. Goose and Duck down, from the same size and aged bird are almost indistinguishable according to the Down Association of Canada. With equal size and maturity birds, the loft and fill power are virtualy identical. What's more, loft and fill power are not always the key measurements of warmth. The world's highest quality and most expensive down is Ider down. But the loft and fill power of Ider is often less than that off duck or goose because it has a tackiness to it. As for odors, that has less to do with the type of bird and more to do a bad batch of down according to the experts. Proof of that is that most down products use duck down because it's a lot less expensive than goose because both come as a by-product of the poultry industry, and duck is just way more available. Check the labels of other top brands... duck is very common and if it always smelled, it wouldn't have a market!

Warm and Stylish

By:
December 22, 2008

Great jacket: warm, great fit and stylish. I have the white one, and receive compliments on it every time I wear it. I live in the Boston area, so it's perfect for keeping me warm, while also having that special flair and versatility: it's great for urban settings and for a hike in the country. The best thing about it is that it's not too bulky. It's warm and cozy, but I don't look or feel like a marshmallow in it. I highly recommend this jacket!

Hey,
I'm 5"3 and 115 lbs and 34 b bust. Would the small be a good fit? Online it says that it measures 38 around the bust on a small, but everyone says that they run small:(. I'm pretty confused. Should I go for a small or an xsmall?

Thanks:)

I have almost the exact same measurements as you, i believe i'm about 109 lbs, and i tried a small on and it was perfect! so i would go for the small definately, and i tried it on with a hoodie underneath and it fit the best even with it!

I would recommend going with a small. You'd probably like a little bit of room in the jacket, especially if you plan on wearing a sweater or other layers underneath.

Worth Every Penny!

By:
November 17, 2008

I love my new Canada Goose Chilliwack Parka! It's very comfortable, WARM, and looks really sharp. I purchased the white one. Worth every penny. I moved to Wisconsin from Myrtle Beach, so I needed a good coat for the WI winters. Since I'm not used to cold and snow, I wanted to get the best and boy did I make a good choice. I highly recommend Canada Goose. I ordered from Backcountry.com on a Saturday and received the coat within 6 days. I am very pleased and excited about my purchase.

Backcountry doesn't reserve stuff, you just have to buy one. And how you ship it from Canada to the UK is entirely up to you.

Quality Stuff

Yes, we are talking a little bit of cash with this jacket, but you won't regret it at all. Of all down jackets, this one is worth every penny. There is not one that parallels it's quality and warmth. You will feel like you are wrapped in a down comforter all day with this one. If you spend any time outside in the winter where it gets fairly cold, this is the jacket for you. I have a friend who has the jacket in white and it is sharp. It is very well made and looks great. I'm waiting for my next paycheck, but this one will be in my closet this winter for sure!

Definitely not a small. I'm 5'6 and fluctuate between 135-140lbs and tried on the mediums at a tradeshow and they were great. It might be a little big through the shoulders for you, but you'll want the extra length. This is a bomber style jacket and by nature of that styling, a bit short. Hope this helps!

Hi Alessandra. I think you'd want to go with the small. I have the xs, am 5'2" and it sits pretty high on my waist. If I were any taller, I'd want the size small. I think it will work for you. Good luck.

Hi Stephanie. I got this jacket in an xtra small -- I'm 5'2" and 100 lbs. It fits me perfectly, Not too bulky -- not too long. It's great for around town, but won't work for skiing since it tends to sit high on the waist (need something a little bit longer for skiing). I love it, and get nothing but compliments every time I wear it. Enjoy.
