Love this pack for mt. biking and trail running. Just enough water for a day on the trails, plus room for a pump, food, light layer, etc. Really useful, great size, not too big, but carries a few extras.

Used this camelbak on a 8 day multi stage mtb race and it was as reliable and as comfortable as my bike. Easy to refill en-route and simple to clean & wash for next day. Enough space to store bike spares/essentials and energy bars & gels. I have since stopped using bottles and now strap this to my back whether its a 2 hr or 5 hr ride. I've come off the bike a number of time now with this pack on and not only has it survived the impacts, but protected my back as well.

I use this pack for trail running and bike rides. It straps down nice and tight for the runs and has gotten me through up to 50 mile rides(with one refill). It has enough room for bike tool,pump,food phone,wallet ect... One of my favorite pieces of gear.

I picked up the Velocity 2.1L specifically for lengthy trail runs and long out-n-back day hikes. It's lightweight and the straps keep it comfortable and form fitting even when running with a full bladder. The pockets hold the perfect amount of nutrition and a camera. The clipping flap will hold a tightly packed rain shell if you cinch it tight enough. My favorite CamelBak product.

This is my first Camelbak; I bought it mainly for hiking, biking and skating. I selected this particular model because it lies between the Slip Stream and the Rogue in terms of overall size and storage capacity. I wanted something very light and small on my back but with enough storage for a few energy bars, first-aid kit, phone and camera. I felt the Slip Stream would not be able to accommodate all this and that the Rogue would be too long (2" more than the Velocity).

However, I didn't foresee how awkwardly the detachable saddlebag is implemented (didn't get a chance to play with one in a store); it takes some time and manual dexterity to attach and detach. It really beggars the question, why not just make it a simple zippered pocket? The pack could have had more storage capacity if it were designed that way instead. I really had to rack my brain to think of a situation in which I could use the detachable system to full advantage. Additionally the saddlebag itself is pretty tiny; I can jam a phone and maybe two Clif bars in there.

Having said that, the overall quality is excellent, it looks good, and it's fairly stable with the sternum strap (unless you bend over too far, in which case it will slide over your head).

Bottom line: if you know you'll use the detachable saddlebag system, definitely go for it. Otherwise, go with the Rogue if you can live with the extra 2" length (you get much more storage capacity) or the Slip Stream (if you don't need the storage capacity).

This is a great pack for biking - the bladder can easily be filled without taking it out, and it still comes out quickly when you need to clean it. It also has a good amount of storage space for gear, food, wind shirt.
