Send your kiddo out for a fall hike in the Columbia Boys' Steens Mountain Fleece Jacket. It will keep him warm and comfortable—and what more could you want? Columbia’s 100% polyester MTR fleece locks in heat when the sun ducks behind the clouds. If he happens to dip a sleeve in the stream, the Steens Mountain Fleece Jacket will dry super quickly. Columbia gave this kids' fleece jacket radial sleeves, so he can move as he pleases. Your boy can also wear the Steens Fleece Jacket under a shell when he hits the mountain for some winter shredding.
Bottom Line: Outfit your boy in the warm and comfortable Columbia Steens Mountain Fleece Jacket. He'll wear it season after season.
Very minimalistic. The fleece is thin and I'm not sure how well it will hold up after washing. My son says that it does little to cut the wind. Might work out better as insulation under another jacket. It also has a snaps on each side of the bottom rather than a drawstring. It looked better online than it does in real life.
the measurement from the bottom of the collar to the bottom of the garment body is 23" and the sleeve. Measurements in addition to that are available on the size chart.
I will tell you that this piece has a generous fit.
This is fitted a little loose, and made of a light weight fleece. Very soft and comfortable. It will will keep one warm down to ~35-40 degrees F if moving and there is no wind. Otherwise it is ok in the 40s to 50s depending on how warm you like to be. Not wind resistant.
I got this and the printed Fleece jacket, both at $15.95 which was value for money, but at $11.97, honestly, you really can't go wrong. I'm not a big guy, was looking for a good fleece as a mid layer but nothing too expensive. So after hunting around backcountry.com, found these, at the price couldn't go wrong. Good solid mid weight fleece, just what I was looking for. Only small thing is that I got the color Stryker, which looks like a brick brown, but it is more a bright orange. Does't bother me too much since it is a mid layer, and the bright orange helps me be seen in the grey winter days, but would be nice to have gotten the color I was expecting.
Write your question here... I need to buy a jacket for a boy of 9 yrs old, cheap and good quality.Could you tell me if this jacket of 16,00 is strong enough for the winter? Thank you for yr attention
This is my daughter's second one of this jacket. She said she wanted exactly what she had already. I was so happy to find it on your website because they are not in stores this time of year. She loves it and wears it almost daily. It is great over a sweater in the spring and fall, perfect as a liner under her winter coat and awesome on a cool summer evening. It is incredibly durable. It has pockets inside for holding gameboys, cell phones or a pair of gloves, and zippered outer pockets for holding money and keeping hands warm. She wore the last one for 2 1/2 years almost daily and it was still in great shape. She misplaced it and was heartbroken. We gave her a new larger one for her birthday and she was thrilled. She thinks it is "perfect"!

My son loves it and wont take off the jacket even if its warm. Perfect for Southern Ca. weather. I bought the same fleece 2 yrs ago and it held up after washing so many times. The price is reasonable and the color goes with my sons uniform. Thanks
Do yourself (and your kid) a favor - never buy North Face or Columbia. Stick to Patagonia, Marmot or Burton. But who can afford a $90 jacket that the kid is going to outgrow in less than a year?
I bought this for my nephew (10-years old) and he seemed to really like it. It did feel very soft and the weight is perfect for a cold day (he lives in southern Indiana, so "cold" is relative :) when you don't want a big jacket bogging you down. Also seems a good weight for after sports when it's chilly and you're sweaty.
How does the weight of this fleece compare to the Polartec weights (i.e.: 100, 200, 300, 400)? We are getting ready to move to AK, and I am looking for a good 300 weight layer for the kids.Thanks.
Columbia is my favourite brand-name. Main reason why I made an order of this item is: this fleece jacket I forgot in bus and nobody does not return it to me. But now I am happy - thanks to your e-shop I have the same jacket I had before - very touch-enjoyable material - everybody says: like a Teddy bear! I recommend it!
Look great, feel great. This is one warm item the boys like to wear. Mom is so glad, especially on cold, rainy days when they can't stand to wear anything but shorts and short-sleeve t's. These jackets still keep them warm.
I was looking for a jacket just like this--but I'm a mom, not a son! I wear an 8 in Misses sizes, and the boys Large is perfect (I thought maybe XL, but it was too big and I had to exchange.) This is exactly what I wanted, and couldn't find in the women's section.
