CAMP USA XLC 470 Crampon - 2006

Mountaineering involves carrying too much weight as it is. Lighten your load with the 16.5oz CAMP XLC 470 Crampon. This fully functional 12-point crampon achieves this impressively low weight thanks to aluminum construction. The XLC 470 would not be a good choice for steep ice, but it's great on the hard pack snow that you encounter in the mountains. Its semi-automatic binding (clip on the heel, strap on the front) is very secure and easy to put on, even when you're wearing big gloves in freezing weather.

Bottom Line: It's easier to move in the mountains with the ultralight CAMP XLC 470 Crampons on your boots.

Super light and strong. I took these into the White Mountains on some pretty steep goat trails covered with ice and packed snow. No problems digging into frozen river flows.
I like the front toe binding it's easy to flip down over your boot.
These are meant for more of a ski boot with a narrow heel. My mistake I didn't realize that until I got them. But after chopping off the two side heel tabs and flexing out the bail wire a little they fit nicely over my North Face boots. The mechanism is quick to lock and I never had any trouble with them loosening up at all. Super easy to adjust the length and they pack into a small shave kit bag nicely to hang from my pack.
Overall I think these are well worth the money and performed exceptionally well.
