Cloudveil Serendipity Jacket - Men's - 2007

Since 1997 when Cloudveil began the softshell revolution, the Men's Serendipity Jacket has led the pack. This highly breathable and highly water-resistant jacket features Schoeller Nanosphere softshell fabric an athletic fit. Zip into the Serendipity Jacket and head out for a spring tour or a day in bounds. Stretchy Schoeller softshell material moves with you while you ski, bike, hike, or climb in cool and cold weather. The soft Polartec 100 fleece lining feels great against the skin and won't cause bunching when you wear extra layers under the Serendipity on frosty days.

Bottom Line: The Cloudveil Serendipity Jacket—your happy place for dynamic fit and technical performance.

Ski and around town

By:

Worn it as an intermediate layer when skiing in 20-30 degrees and it worked perfectly. It regulates heat well, so you can wear it when the temperature is in the 50s. I've really enjoyed having this and will definitely be looking for another deal on a Cloudveil product.

The ultimate jacket

By:
June 11, 2008

This is an outstanding technical jacket. Cloudveil's quality is unmatched. There are many copycat jackets that have a similar cut/style as the Serendipity but the quality of the materials is obvious once you wear it out in the elements. To respond to the cuffs problem...the older Serendipity jackets had the hook-and-loop straps at the sleeves however they had problems with the fabric coming loose that was glued to the top of the hook-and-loop strap. I'm not sure if I like the new sleeves better or not...need to wear it on more climbing trips to decide.

JMLasker

Bought my original Serendipity in December of 2002, and wore the "?X!!&" out of it. Earlier this winter, the front zipper broke. Cloudveil honored their lifetime warrantee, and actually replaced a 5 year old jacket with a brand new one. Same black color too. I like the original version a little better - the sealing wrist cuffs with laminated tabs have been eliminated for some el cheapo elastic cuffs that hardly seal, and the internal cinch sealing collar is also gone. Otherwise, this is a great all-around jacket that will serve you well in most any condition other than an all-out blizzard.

Problems with cut and cuffs

By:

I liked the jacket and would have loved to have kept it but it ran about a 1/2 size too small while the sleeved were a little too long and don't have Velcro clinches to secure them around the wrist area.

Great Jacket

By:
October 6, 2008

My purchase of the Serendipity jacket was for more of an "Urban" usage. I found it to be extremely versatile in my work as an airport shuttle owner/operator. Time doesn't allow me to get into the great outdoors as once before, but I knew the qualities of good outdoorwear could take care of my needs as well. From wet and cold weather, in and out of plane terminals and my van, lifting and moving luggage and long layovers in the van waiting for flights, the jacket has kept me extremely comfortable, dry, and given me freedom of movement with its unique material...very breathable. At six foot and 180lbs. I went with the medium reading other reviews, but found it too snug for my purposes. Exchanged it for the large and also found that the longer sleeve length design worked well with my 35" arm length. Great jacket, good value and customer service.

Perfect Spring soft-shell

Cuts the wind and breathes well. I do wish the wrist cuffs were adjustable. Still, it my go-to jacket in moderate weather.

This is it. This is the one weapon you reach for when you're not sure if you you're heading to a gun or knife fight. Warm, windproof and comfy. Layers over a insulation layer brilliantly.
