Cloudveil Koven Jacket - Men's - 2006

The Cloudveil Men's Koven Jacket is a sophisticated shell that offers watertight protection for hardcore backcountry users. In a traditional hardshell, when you exert yourself skinning a ridge or hiking to a climb, you get warm too fast for the jacket to breathe. Cloudveil made the Koven Jacket from a waterproof fabric, Cloudburst Stretch EV3, which is also exceptionally breathable and allows your sweaty exhaust to get out before you get clammy. Perfect for all snow sports, the Koven Jacket features an articulated helmet-compatible hood that you can adjust for optimum field of vision. Fully sealed seams and a storm-sealing collar keep face shots from becoming wet-neck shots. Sick Jacket

It has been dumping all night and it is still just absolutely puking out when you grab your coffee and look outside. You have a smile on your face and your soul is jumping up and down as you get ready - knowing that you will be skiing deep, light pow, all. day. long. This is what you wait for and dream about every summer: non-stop freshies, the unrelenting snow filling in every track.
When the conditions are storming - this is the jacket I reach for. Light, waterproof, and the hood covers the helmet. It allows me to go - all day long - no warmup/dryout stops needed!
My only negative is the lack of interior pockets - (c'mon Cloudveil, I only need one!)

New one better than the old

I owned last years model of this same jacket, the zipper clasp broke, sent it in, and got this years model to replace it. Cloudveil has made some very good improvements, the velcro straps on the sleeves are larger and better made, the zipper clasp problem from last year has been solved with better zipper pulls. Other than that the jacket is pretty much the same, good all around shell for everything from skiing, to rock climbing to surviving a rain storm. Definately a good buy.
