MSR Board Room Family Tent - 2008

With 6ft 10in of head room, zip-out privacy doors, side and end entrances, ceiling windows, the MSR Board Room Family Tent creates a comfortable walled shelter for four to eight campers. The Board Room Tent's hoop geometry makes the walls almost vertical, which means there's plenty of room for family card games and late-night story telling. Oversized poles around this MSR tent stand up to harsh wind storms. Deter theft by locking bikes and other valuables to the stainless steel security cable inside the Board Room. *Includes poles, 10 stakes, and a duffle for easy transport. Does not include a bottom, and footprint is sold separately.

Bottom Line: MSR's Board Room Tent acts as your family living room on camping trips.

They don't include screens, but 'walls' that can be zipped in or out. Each wall contains a door, but the wall is a solid piece of nylon material (no mesh). You can purchase either a ScreenRoom (full mesh) which can be zipped either inside the tent, creating a double wall type tent, or zipped out to extend the tent (similar to a bug house). The Bunkroom 2 and 4 are also available. The Bunkrooms have floors whereas the ScreenRoom doesn't otherwise their identical (the Bunkroom two is meant to sleep two people and the Bunkroom for is meant to sleep 4).

So the boardroom has no bottom, in other words no floor? So if you buy the footprint, how does it attach to the boardroom? If it does not attach, then can't bugs still crawl in? I'm confused, never had a tent with no floor.

The tent poles fit into grommets in the footprint. Attaching the footprint gives the tent a floor. Without it, yeah, bugs crawl in so be sure to get it. Here's the URL for your convenience:http://www.backcountry.com/store/CAS0430/MSR-Board-Room-Footprint.html----------The BoardRoom's Footprint is different than traditional footprints. Instead of it being attached via grommets, it uses interior buckles that overlap interior flaps from the main tent. Because of this overlap, critters from the outside have a difficult journey getting inside the tent. Although this doesn't mean they can enter, it does mean that it won't be a major issue. The floor fits very well and is tight, a feature of most high-end tents. The ability to either have a floor or not is one of the big advantages of this tent. Sometimes not having a floor allows you to bring in items that might have destroyed the floor (ie. heavy items, coolers, camp stoves, bikes, etc.). The other option is the BunkRoom that can be zipped inside the tent. This accessory does have a seam-sealed floor making it more of a tent you are used to.

YKK & no zippers are totally child proof!----------The BoardRoom uses size #10 YKK Nickle-Plated Zippers, arguably the most durable zipper you can buy. Inside the tent, are nylon #10 YKK zippers, but these aren't necessarily used as much. I would suspect that you will have many years of use from these, even with the abuse that children throw at it.

Zip the MSR Screening Room onto the exterior of your Board Room tent to add 64 square feet of bug-free porch room, then set this screen up inside your tent for a bite-free night of sleep. Camping is much more fun when you're not being inundated with pesky insects. The Screening Room's no-see-um mesh blocks bugs while letting air circulate in and out.
