The MSR Hubba Hubba 2-Person 3-Season Tent has been redesigned. MSR made this superlight and spacious freestanding tent even more livable. MSR added a second door and vestible, so you and your camping partner can each pick a side. The Hubba Hubba remains under 5lbs, so everyone wins. The unique pole configuration provides maximum interior space, and is super easy to set up. Use the fly and body for maxium protection, or match the fly with the footprint for a shaded lounge.-Vendor
i recently took this tent on a month long trip to australia and i was impressed by it's performance. we got rained on for a week straight and had no major disasters. the corners started to leak a little, but that was pretty minor. it's super light, which is why i bought it, and i LOVE how it's all mesh when you take the rain fly off. it's a bit small for a 2 person tent, but having 2 doors and 2 vestibules definitely helps. the floor has a little damage from camping on prickly ground so i would definitely recommend getting the footprint. i am going to invest in a gear loft because as i said it's a bit small and any organization helps. overall i'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this tent to anyone looking for a super light and sturdy tent
I absolutely love this Hubba Hubba tent. The ventilation rocks, the material rocks, the set-up is so easy. It is bombproof. No condensation on the inside after a thunderstorm, no leakage. Love it.
I exchanged (returned a Big Agnes tent and bought this one) and it was great service. Got online chat, checked out what to do, got a return number and got the new stuff ordered right then. Great tent, testing it next weekend. Only thing was a slow credit after return. The credit to my card did not get posted until 1.5 weeks after UPS tracking showed received by them, but got the credit fine.
This is a fantastic tent. It is basically one pole and could not possibly be easier to set up. Not much privacy without the fly, but who needs privacy in the backcountry? The mesh makes for epic star gazing, but I dont think the dogs get much sleep - constantly on the lookout for critters. This is not the tent for you and your buddy to share it is for you and the girl, hence the name. it is so light that I take it solo instead of my bivy. High praise all around.
Light, simple, versatile, roomy. Okay now that that's out of the way, awesome rig. I have used numerous tents through the years (Dad was a scoutmaster, grew up in New England, nuff said) and this is the best by far. Sure, it costs more than my first car did, but I've gotten more use out of the tent than I ever did with the car. Its more comfortable to sleep in too. Whether I'm using it to hike around Devil's Lake, or just as a second bedroom for my popup camper, it's never let me down. It looks really cool too.
Weight to space ratio is excellent. I recently had the opportunity to try out my new Hubba Hubba 2-person model on a section hike on the Carolina AT. We spot camped on a pine needle blanket in a gap just short of Hot Springs. Wind gust 25-30 knots were not a problem. Solid system and easy to set up. Two doors make it nice for ease of entry/exit.
I purchased this tent in April of 2004 and have been more than impressed. It's insanely light, a breeze to set up, and dry (the first night I used it there was a storm and the tent held up beautifully). While the tent is great, it does not come with the footprint, which it should. This is the only negative I can think of. Great tent! Did I mention it was light!
I bought this tent in July of 2004 and absolutely love it. I have gone through a variety of tents from $10 specials to ones just as pricey as this one. You definitely get your money's worth. I love the head space and roominess. The second time I used this, I encountered a terrible storm with very high winds. I didn't set the tent up to ride the wind well and had the door facing the gusts. It didn't matter, the tent stayed up and I was completely dry. I was amazed and very grateful as I have weathered many storms such as this and usually end up wet. I'm glad to have bought it. It would be good to have a vent at the top like the smaller MSRs have for condensation.
I have not used what appears to be a great tent yet but it setups up very quick and easy, has plenty of space inside (the design keeps the walls more vertical then others allowing maximum floor space), and packs extremely small (5.5"x 14") without poles and the total weight on my scale was 4lb 10oz! For the money I dont think I could have bought a lighter freestanding quality-built tent with as much space as this one!
I went through two other tents before this one, and this is the winner hands down. I was toying between the MSR and another, and the only thing making me think twice about MSR was the price. I was dying to try it out, so I took it snow camping where it got down to 5F at night. It did fine. I was especially amazed of the space in comparison with the one I was going to buy. I bought the fly and gear loft for a complete set up. I cooked inside the vestibule and had zero problems (just make sure stove and pot are centered inside the vestibule). After using this tent a couple of times, I admit I would buy it over the one I was thinking about despite the price. My wife likes it as well and it fit us both with our gear superbly (I am 6ft 1in). It was a breeze to set up even in wind/snow gusts. Sure it may not be the ideal tent for winter but it didn't condensate either. For a tent that has this superb of fit & finish, space, ease of set up, dry entry, and weight savings you can't go wrong. Quit looking at tents and just buy this one. You be glad you did.
I was nervous at first about the style of this tent. I was very impressed by the ease and speed of set up. It makes night set ups great. Along with being light and fast, the capability to only use a shelter is very convenient.
the first time i used this tent it rained and water fell through the ceiling, so i sealed the seams, then i backpacked with it and it snowed. the unthinkable happened, THE SNOW CAVED IN THE TENT AND WE SLEPT WITH SNOW ON OUR FACES FREEZING. then i sold it on ebay for $50. enough said
that sounds like a horrible camping experience! that's so strange about the rain. i'm not too surprised about the snow though. this is a 3 season tent which means it's not meant to be used in the snow.
The first time I used this tent, we were camped in a flood plane on Galveston Island and a cold front moved in during the night. The wind was very strong and the rain was unbelievable and yet we were dry. I did not doubt for a minute that the tent would retain its integrity which it did all night during the thunderstorm.
This tent is light and easy to set up. So many possible configurations to set up with tent/fly to accommodate any weather scenario. LOTS of headroom and 360 visibility w/out fly. Not too short for 6' guys but will get tight when you bring your packs/gear insided with you for the night. Remember, it's super light and not extremely durable. Lots of mesh on tent requires little extra care when packing in your pack or stuff sack w/poles and stakes. Comes with sweet msr tent stakes, light and strong, no bending crap.
This tent is perfect for backpacking. It's very light weight and very easy to pitch. I love all of the mesh. It's nice being surrounded by no see em mesh in a mosquito infested area. You can still see everything that's going on around you which out being eaten to death.
