Burton Joystick Snowboard

The Joystick Snowboard offers the loose, skatey feel of Burton’s V-Rocker while still delivering enough response, pop, and edge grip to turn the entire mountain into your own terrain park. Burton defied the laws of nature by designing a soft, forgiving snowboard that still charges hardpack like a bat out of hell and floats in powder like there’s a hot-air balloon strapped to your back.

  • V-Rocker raises the nose and tail off the snow for a catch-free ride and insane float in powder
  • Pressure Distribution Edges extend an extra .5mm in binding-mount areas for enhanced grip on firm snow
  • Freestyle Scoop turns up edges at tip and tail for a forgiving, stompable feel
  • Triax Response Fiberglass with Carbon I-Beam for reliable edge hold and more pop than a flaming fireworks stand
  • Infinite Ride tech breaks-in board at the factory, so the flex and ride are the same on day 1 and day 301
  • The Channel mounting system provides unrivaled cushioning, board feel, and endless stance options (compatible with EST or 3D Burton bindings)
  • Size down 1-2 cm from normal board length

Bottom Line: Park, pow, or piste—regular or switch—the Joystick destroys it all while encouraging freestyle progression like never before.

How does this (joy stick) ride compared to the Un Inc and Hero boards?

I rode the hero board and I hate how it rides compared to the Un Inc. I think because I prefer camber over rocker.

The hero is much, much softer flexing than the Joystick!

Joystick is similar to the UnInc in that they both have pretty deep sidecut. Joystick is a mid-wide waist while the uninc is a normal (bit narrower waist width)

Have you checked out the Easy Livin' Flying V (same shape and side cut as the old Uninc) but has the last in Burton's hybrid Rocker/Camber tech story... I just got off the Joystick becasue of this NEW bad boy! Its seriously insane! Rails like a camber board but jibs like a rocker. Front Boards for days!

Don't get me wrong, I will still have my joystick and rock the crap out of it... But I am digging the Flying V right now!

MAYBE THE BEST BOARD IN THE WORLD!

By: Backcountry.com Vendor Rep

The Joystick is my board of choice! I'm 6 foot and 195 lbs. (considering myself an advanced rider who likes tricks and powder) I ride the 157 as a park, rail, pipe, groomer stick... And then jump up to a 159 wide when its over knee high powder.

Just to note, this won the Transworld snowboarding good wood award!

Here is what the non-Burton affiliated testers had to say:

“Very fun, stiffer rocker board.”
“This board is an amazing combination of flex and pop. It holds a perfect edge and struck me as an awesome park board as well.”
“Fun board to take anywhere on the mountain.”
“Super good all around board. Has reverse camber which will make it awesome in pow. Still has pop to get those big jumps stomped out. And it’s a bit pressy on rails.”
“This would be a very fun pow board. The rocker makes it feel a little soft for jumps but it still performs. Fun for butters too.”
“No confusing internet searches needed, the all-mountain rider has found its match. Fun to ride, pop for days and awesome to turn. It ain’t this thing’s first swing around the block!”

The nose and tail does not curve up as much on a rocker board, so even with a shorter overall length, the effective edge is the same

The general theory with rocker is to size down, as with a rocker-ed board you use more of an edge between the bindings because of the rock. Its similar to having a longer effective edge.

Personally, I actually ride this board at the same size as my cambered.

The joystick is my weapon of choice for all conditions. I ride a 157 for jmups, rails, and pipe, and then drop into a 159W for deep powder. (I'm 6 foot and close to 200 lbs.)

This board changed my snowboarding for the better, hands down!

the most likely reason they suggest that is that the board rides as if it were a 1-2cm longer than it actually is. This could be because the board is rockered. Or it could be that they made the board a little wider which increase the surface area of the board and thus if the board is bought short the surface area is about the same. Hope that helps.
