Burton Bliss Reversible Down Jacket - Women's

First of all, the Burton Women’s Bliss Down Jacket reverses from solid to an all-over print design. Second of all, this 550-fill puffy has 10K-rated waterproof fabric and critically taped seams for when the flurries start to fall. Thirdly, underarm zips help cool you down when you’re working hard. Burton’s classic fit gives this jacket a baggy, but not too-baggy cut so you won’t look like you’re smuggling ten small dogs into the park, while the reversible design fools your friends into thinking you actually have two sweet riding jackets. - Fall 2008.

Bottom Line: Reverse it.

I'm looking for a down jacket, preferably with a hood & 2-way zipper. Any recommendations? This jacket:
2.56lbs, not 2-way zip, 550 fill.

Can it go -30 degrees celcius?
I know it's already been said that you can wear it in neg temps, but how much layering (specifically) would i need for that temperature?
And i know it has a down fill of 550 - but does anyone know how much down is actually in there (in grams) because it looks quite thin to me in the pictures?
Thanks

That really is your call. A powder skirt is great feature, but generally I just wear a really long first layer underneath and tuck it in. But for those deep days a powder skirt is a great feature. Its really your call, if you like the jacket then get it and just make sure your first layers are all tucked in.

I would go with a medium, but it all depends on the amount of layering you plan of doing. The medium still leaves plenty of room for some midweight layers but if you are looking for enough space for a big wool sweater than go up a size. Burton generally designs its jackets on the baggier side.

Bought this off the web for my daughter, who both skis and boards. She LOVED it, so I'm feeling pretty good. Nice weight, well made, glad I ordered one size up to allow for underlayers. RECCOMMENDED. Bought from Backcountry.com, they're GREAT.

Great lightweight coat!

By:
April 2, 2009

This coat has really exceeded my expectations. It is lightweight but heavy enough to keep me warm. I don't live where it is really cold nor do I use it for skiing, but my dogs are really enjoying looking at it each day as we walk. It is a plus that it is waterproof. I would have liked one or two inside pockets, especially for a cell phone or ipod.

waste of money

By:
January 20, 2009

I anxiously awaited the arrival of this parka and MAN was I disappointed! It is the equivalent of two hefty bags with twenty feathers between the layers. The fabric was atrocious and the data on fill power can only be wrong. I live in the Northeast and it is very cold, snowy and fairly windy. This jacket is such a joke I can't believe it can be marketed.

any 550 down jacket w/ proper layering will be good for negative temps. Add a midweight mid layer and a light base layer and you'll be able to adjust to different temps.

You can see what it's going to look like by the color of the inside of the hood. Sleeves on the XS will be 32.5". You may be in-between Small and XS but given the fact this will run a little bigger try XS small first if you can.
