Brunton Helios Stormproof Lighter

The Brunton Helios Stormproof Lighter will give you a flame in nearly any weather condition. Brunton named the Helios Stormproof Lighter for the Greek sun god—an appropriate name for this tiny butane-fueled blowtorch. The Helios provides a flame that withstands 80-mph winds—a huge help when you need to light your stove or lantern or make a fire in crummy weather. When the lid is closed, this lighter is waterproof. Take care of your Helios, and it'll give you 30,000 ignitions. *This piezo lighter may have trouble operating at altitudes above 8,000 feet. Fuel not included.

Bottom Line: Don't let bad weather prevent you from enjoying a hot meal—light your camp stove with the Brunton Helios Stormproof Lighter.

it's hot

I like this lighter. works well and burns hot. Almost too hot. The flame is so hot when starting a fire it burns up the tinder. It seems to burn fairly efficient too. I have not filled it up much even though I have used it a ton and play with it all the time. It is pretty durable as well. Mine was thrown from my jeep on a bumpy road and shows no scars. Is it a necessary item? probably not unless wind is a huge factor. Using it with the brunton fuel tool to refill it is also a nice feature. but really I bought it cause it makes a cool jet engine sound when lit :)

I'd like to quote bc.com's disclaimer:"*This piezo lighter may have trouble operating at altitudes above 8,000 feet." I borrowed this same lighter from a friend last summer & had lighting problems authenticating the aforementioned disclaimer. I've never had a piezo lighter work to it's intended purpose @ elevations above 8500 ft. Auto igniters on stoves don't seem to have this same problem, but lighters do. My suggestion is to purchase a half dozen disposable butane lighters & use them instead. I've never experienced any problems with them & they are A LOT LESS EXPENSIVE!!!

Fool proof......

This handy lighter is so easy, a child could use (DO NOT GIVE IT TO A CHILD!!!). Fuel it up and its ready to go. There's some great little features: the viewing window which lets you see how much fuel is remaining, the spring loaded opening button and the waterproof seal.
This lighter is a must have for the outdoor enthusiast.
