The Black Diamond VaporLock Carabiner checks in at an ultralight 51grams (1.8oz) for climbers who want to make their gear as light as possible. In addition to weighing incredibly little, the VaporLock Carabiner also includes a keylock gate for snag-free operation. Black Diamond gave this locking 'biner a basket wide enough to allow you to use a Munter hitch on ropes up to 9.4mm during climbs where even the belay device seems excessive (or you dropped it).
Bottom Line: Don't stop at your rack when it comes to lightening your gear. Grab the Black Diamond VaporLock Carabiner to shave even more ounces.
You know when you get a cool new toy and it just feels right in your hand? Well this little bugger is clean and snappy and light and solid. I love it. I have a couple in my crevasse rescue kit and also use them at anchors on rock and ice routes. Not much not to love about the VaporLock!
Black Diamond makes great climbing products, and they continue to deliver with the VaporLock. I love these light-weight lockers -- great for trad and alpine climbing. As other reviewers here have suggested, you won't want to use these as a belay-locker or for top-rope anchors -- otherwise, though, you can't go wrong.
...yeah, I just said that. As shown it is gold, but just a tad brighter.

I bought three of these at beginning of summer, and after several trips to the mountains I had one lock up on me. I couldn't unscrew the gate to get it open. I had to wrestle with the thing for like 5 minutes. It only had issues with one biner, but i don't think I'd buy any more. I was really happy with it until that happened.
These have become the standard non-belay locker on my rack. They are excellent for anchor building or adding security to the rope end of a draw. Replacing heavier and larger lockers with these will shave significant weight off a trad rack. The gate action is smooth, and the snag-free keylock nose clips into tangles of webbing, hangers, etc. easily. One note about the color: although the description calls it "lime," it's really a yellow tint with a hint a green. Kinda like the filling on an authentic key lime pie (the type without the radioactive green artificial coloring).
This thing rules. I had 2 anchor draws with these on them, but I switched them over to daisy chains. I wouldn't recommend them for long-term toproping, as they seem to be wearing through faster than my Rocklocks. It makes sense, there's less metal there, but it seems like a waste of a good biner to wear through it like that. My favorite aspect is that they're skinny enough to clip into the middle of a chain at an anchor, opening up a wealth of options for multi-pitching and cleaning. And they're really light. And the keylock nose on the gate means it doesn't get caught on gear loops, bolt hangers, etc. And they look cool. That pretty much covers it.
This biner is amazingly lightweight and has every other feature you could want. The price is even doable for a BD hot forged, keylock locking biner. Buy many and often. Nuff said.
great little locking biners. super light weight, smooth action, and not big and bulky like most belay/rappel lockers. i use these guys with a set of dynex runners as indirects when cleaning and climbing multi-pitch routes. the keylock really comes in handy when you trying to unclip from the chains.
The design is amazing. Rather than a smooth curve at the bottom, it almost squares out so that large objects on your biner don't get stuck. I use one to hold a Petzl mini-traxion and it doesn't get stuck. Not to mention it being super light. Awesome alpine locker. Perfection.
This is my new favorite basic locker. It's incredibly light, and the keylock gate is fantastic for those crowded belay stations when you're climbing with parties of 2 or more and trying to squeeze one more locker into some bolt hangers. I usually keep 3 or 4 of these bad boys on my harness at all times.
very light weight for the specs. good opening range and keylock gate. smooth locking and unlocking. my only lament is that i can't justify the $ to replace all my lockers with it.
as always bdel comes through. just like advertised this locker is munter compatible!! just one more reason to drop excess gear and go ultra light with a few of these.
