Black Diamond Sprinter Headlamp

Designed for trail runners and hikers who don’t let the sun dictate when they head outside, the Black Diamond Sprinter Headlamp features a well-balanced, rechargeable design that keeps the path ahead brightly illuminated. A DoublePowder LED bulb in the front has three different settings to suit the conditions, and a rear red strobe increases visibility on around-town jaunts. The low profile minimizes bouce while running, and the sealed casing (waterproof to 1m) ensures weather conditions won’t stop you from getting out.

Bottom Line: Bring along the Sprinter Headlamp when you’re going running no matter what.

Great product

I run rural roads in the very early morning and this light is just fantastic. It's very light, very stable, very comfortable, and quite bright. The angle of the light is very easily adjustable and the beam projects quite a long distance, helping to give you a good sense of your surroundings beyond what's right at your feet. Cars also see you coming from a long ways off and I find they give me more (and earlier) clearance than used to be the case, which is an added benefit. The recharging system is great. This is a super product. I couldn't be happier wiht it.

Excellent product

I bought this light several weeks ago, primarily for the added safety that it brings. I usually run around 5 or 5:30 AM, so it is always dark. I've run for years without a light or other safety enhancers. I have to say that I love running with this light. The light is very bright, and covers an area of probably 10-15 feet in front of me. I never use it at full strength...I usually dim it to a medium brightness, which is plenty. It really lights up the dark areas between the streetlights. It doesn't really add any light in the areas under the lights, but then, you don't really need anymore light in those areas.

It is more comfortable than I expected, and does not bounce around. The light can be angled up or down, so you can aim it to suit your preferences. I know that it makes me MUCH more visible to the few cars that I see at that time of the morning. That's especially nice, b/c I doubt that many of them are really fully awake, or looking for a runner to be out on the streets. I have also had another runner going the opposite direction compliment me on it.

Love the rechargeable battery. Definitely worth the money.

Not bright enough

By:

It's a decent light for running on lighted sidewalks or perfectly flat, smooth surfaces in total darkness like a track. But, it's not bright enough nor does it throw light far enough for non-lit sidewalks or bike/running paths. Definitely not enough light for trail running.

Did your light indicate the Lumins? Do lumins determine the brightness? Does 40 lumens mean its brighter light, longer projection than a 20 lumen light? What does your product info say on this light..I am interested in getting it now.

I have this headlamp and find it to be very bright on dark trails and the broad beam minimizes problems of a bouncing light pattern you'd see from a narrow spot. I find it is OK to even dim the light, which will extend the batter life even further.
