The Black Diamond Phoenix harness is an ultralight, high performance sport climbing harness that weighs in at just 325g. The new Phoenix has a sleeker, padded waistbelt that is comfortable for working routes while its exterior has been designed using lightweight, abrasion-resistant fabrics. New molded gear loops are flexible and have specifically designed tear-away slots for desperate clips. Lightweight materials and buckles make the Phoenix a premium choice for modern sport climbs when you're climbing at your threshold. –Vendor
Bottom Line: Don't let your harness hold you down.
I bought this in an XL having a 36in waist, gives me enough room for adjusting just right. Not having leg ajustments is not missed, slides on and feels great. Comfortable even when hanging upsidown, or just hanging over the edge as I shoot photos. Light and comfortable.
I really like the simplicity of this harness. It is extremely lightweight, breathable, comfortable, yet durable. I do miss the loop on the back of my harness and the adjustable leg loops but other than that is is truly exquisite. Looks great, fair price, I'd recommend it to anyone sport climbing. The orange belay loop really stands out in contrast to the gray.
The small size does not fit a 32" waist. 31" max would be more accurate. The leg size is also a bit over stated. If your legs are at the high side of the sizing chart for the small size, the distance between the tie in points (legs and waist) will be too far apart for a comfortable tie in. The medium size would probably fit down to a 31" waist. Nice beefy belay loop.
All I can say is WOW!! I've worn many harnesses and this one takes the cake. So light that you don't even feel it when its on. So comfortable that I could hang in it all day (which I have) and not complain once. This is a great harness that I would recommend to anyone.
It's little bit pricey compared to the rest of the harnesses on sale but if you're looking for a sport climbing harness, this is it! I am very pleased with it- I hardly felt it as I was going as fast as I could up the walls just to test it out. Great harness!
Light, strong, comfortable. Strong and comfortable so I can rappel all day, and light enough to go bouldering without taking it off. I even wore it on the 2 mile hike-in the last time I was at Red River Gorge, KY. I would suggest this harness as a MUST for anyone.
The harness has proven to be a great choice. It fits very nicely and I hardly know it's there. The leg loops have a nice feature. A segment of elastic to allow for minor variations in clothing layers (or leg size). So, I don't regret buying a harness without adjustable leg loops. I have even played around with the handy loops for setting up for a frantic quickdraw grab. They work. Great idea. I chose this harness because of its light weight (and my positive experiences with two other Black Diamond harnesses) and simplicity. After a month of use, the harness hardly shows any wear. I was a little hesitant about such a lightweight harness and its comfort range. However, hanging belays have yet to be a problem. I expect this to perform quite well for my multi-pitch trad climbing.
This is a nice harness, very well made with reasonbale comfort. However, the waist measurement range is misleading. While the belt will accomodate a larger waist size the harness has a velcro tab that needs to be closed for proper fit. So, if you're on the upper range of the medium size, order a large....The same is true of the Mammut Focus harness which is almost identical with the addition of adjustable leg loops...for $10 less, and even better made. If you want a light weight sport harness that can double for shorter traditional climbs it's a good bet, but the Mammut is a better buy.
Ive had this harness for almost a year now and its a great harness for leading short slab sport routes. its perfect for slabby sandstone but it starts to fray a lot if youre climbing cracks or more abrasive rock. I did a three pitch trad route in it and will never make that mistake again two hanging belays make for a severely uncomfortable day! ive used it in the gym as well and sucks to fall in. The quick release loops are a good idea but have a tendency to drop your draws. all in all if your looking for an ultra-light harness for sport routes it does the job.
This harness is sick whips. No other harness comes in this color, so one should accessorize accordingly. The soft color also enhances your tan when climbing shirtless. If you have no hair, I would say go with the Black Diamond Focus harness, it definitely makes a difference... :)
