Instead of loading the Momentum Harness with a million features you'll never use, Black Diamond kept it simple and functional and leaves you money for your rack. Four molded gear loops hold all the cams you need for a granite crack and all the draws you need for a limestone sport route. Black Diamond used its years and years of harness design and included a bullhorn shape to increase the comfort of this harness, so you won't be cursing it while you work your next project.
Bottom Line: Some things just need to be kept simple.
This was my first harness and is exactly what I needed. Excellent price, functions great, comfortable for long periods of time, simple design/easy to use, not too heavy. I would recommend for anyone looking to get into climbing.
Not sure what you're talking about with the sizing chart, but it suggests small. I'd go medium so you can put a sweatshirt or something on under it if you need to.I have a size 30 inch waist and a small fit me just fine. The fitted leg loops were snug on me (good) but I have larger thighs.
For the money, you can't go wrong with this one. Fits good and is comfortable. It doesn't have the fancy adjustments of higher end models but for me it's been "set it and forget it" - I haven't had to make any adjustments after getting the fit right the first climb. Good value harness and does what it's supposed to do.
I haven't worn many harnesses, but it seems to do the job. I have taken a few lead falls on it and it's still holding together. I have a 31 waist and medium fits fine over jeans. overall feels good, fits good, and gets the job done!
Black Diamond Momentum Harness, Definitely for beginner climbers, no straps on the legs make this harness uncomfortable when belaying down. But it is cheap so it is a good first time harness. But if you are all about comfort and have a little extra dough I would go the next step up.
I owned this harness before selling it (I boulder mostly and just needed one for a summer job at a camp)(and had no trouble finding takers for it) and it is a nice novice harness. It is comfortable and light, nice padding, fitted legs are snug, and does the job for a low price. You don't need all the bells and whistles if you're not using them.
This was the first harness I ever purchased and I really can't complain even 2 years later. Its light, sized well, comfortable, and good gear loops. I really like the little piece of velcro on the front so I can keep it on my hits while I tighten it up. Great value for the price. I don't see why people buy more expensive ones after how well this one has treated me!
This harness works well, and it's shortcomings are best described by what it doesn't have that you'd get in a more expensive model.
The good: It works as a harness and keeps you from falling to your death. It won't set you back too much money.
The bad: Non adjustable leg loops, traditional double back buckle instead of a speed buckle (just saw somebody in one of these the other day who forgot to double it back), gear loops not very sturdy. The comfort isn't as good as some other models, but isn't horrible either.
My main harness at the moment. Purchased about a year ago as an upgrade from the focus al. I prefer the fitted leg loops, but I also do not do ice climbing, so layers are not a factor for me most of the time. If not planning on layering often, the sizing actually runs a little large and you should try this on in a store if possible before ordering. Pretty good comfort, but not the greatest in long hanging belays. I plan to upgrade again, but at the moment I am enjoying this harness.
My brother got this for a gift for me at 50$ which is a great deal but now its down to 40$ even better! the harness fits well, has very nice features like the gear loops down to the tabs that hold the excess on the straps. It also has a loop in the back for tie ins which is a lot nicer than the one on the mammut mirage harness and i think it just looks a lot nicer. Its very comfortable, the padding is where it needs to be. Overall its a nice harness with great features that keep it practical.
This was my first harness and it fit very well. It got a little uncomfortable after long periods of wear. I have a long waist (female) and the harness has plenty of adjustability in that area.
This harness functions well. It's not the greatest I've ever tried, but it's comfortable. Next harness I own will not have the elastic bands on the legs as it is kind of a pain when putting it on and egressing.
I only do indoor climbing right now and this is a million times better than their (the gyms) standard cheap un-padded harness. Fits great, very comfortable and secure. No more strap marks on my sides.
The gyms harness may be free to use, but I decided this harness was worth the $ after only one time in it.
I hooked this up to head out for a canyoneering trip. It's a great option for the price, keeps me from plummeting to my death in the canyons and fits as it should.
Bought this in a 'starter kit' for new climbers. I've used in indoors and haven't used it outside, but it's pretty comfortable and great for the price for starters. There are four gear loops so when I start getting outside I'm sure I'll keep this one for a while. If I ever get into some more bad-arse climbing, I'll probably buy a "better" one.
This was my first harness and it has worked really well. It's very comfortable and fits just right. The only minor drawback is that the locking mechanism is a bit hard to use. Since you want a tight fit, you have to make little adjustments to the strap before you get that ideal tight fit. Other than that, I'm really happy with this harness.
